Hi I'm looking at buying a 60 litre Evakool fridge(the white icebox with fridge unit on the end).Just wanting some input good and bad from anyone who has one of these.I know there are people out there that will say Engel or Waeco but I believe that these are a very good alternative to the big names not a second option from what I've seen so far.

Timbo,
I have an EvaKool 60 litre white fibreglass model. Its approx 1.5 years old. Had a problem with the thermostat about 6 months ago. Took it to EvaKool and they fixed it without any questions. Only use it on 240v at the moment so I can't comment on its power draw. It keeps everything very cold. We love it. Would love for it to have an auto thermostat but hey. From everything I have read on here from the other guys and seen, people have their preferences but I don't think you can go wrong with an EvaKool or a Engel.

I don't think you can go wrong.

For every situation you have 3 choices. Live with it, change it, or leave it. But only pick one

When you say automatic thermostat do you mean like digital like the engels and waeco or something else. From what I can see it has a dial 1-10 to adjust the temp that I assume that once you get to know it would be easy to regulate the temp.

MarkVS

You can't set it to a temp and away it goes and keeps it at that temp....is what I meant.

Timbo, have had my 45 ltr Evakool for about 2 years now and love it, never had a drama with the fridge and would recommend to anyone. The only thing I had to do was run heavy duty wire to power it as it didn't like standard "spottie" cable, but it will run for about 3 to 4 days without starting the car. Works great on 240 and 12 volt power, although it is always on 12V. You wont be disappointed mate, go for it. Peter
