Whilst the photo might be real I have grave doubts that this was taken at or near Branxton.  I had it sent to me and did a few google searches to test authenticity and it was pointed out the snake in the photo is not common to the area around Branxton.

I'll say it: You're mate has GREAT photo shopping skills if that is a King Brown. Quite simply they will NOT grow that length or anything near it. Based on the approximate length of the star pickets behind it, and allowing for distance error, I estimate the length of the snake, as pictured, would be 6 plus metres. The general maximum length of a King Brown is 3 metres, allowing for an extreme excess length of one third (unrealistic, I know) it would max out at 4 metres.

Result: photo shop, someone's pet snake placed there or cut and paste of a snake onto a smaller background. Sorry dude!

+1. I'd say a minimum safe distance would be 15,000' overhead.

Don't like brown snakes. Am reasonably OK with other snakes, but don't like king brown's. Any snake that will see you from half a paddock away, line you up and say "righty-o - you're mine!" is NOT OK by me!

I'm fairly sure King Browns are members of the Black Snake family as is the Eastern or Common Brown, there only called brown snakes because of their colour, not normally an aggressive snake, the Brown and Tiger on the other hand
