our old basic camper trailer VS: NEW KK

Over easter we went  on our annually trip to Cobram. 

some of our friends tagged along in there "new" kimberly kamper. (KK) when i first saw it i must say i got a bit jealous, but after easter i must say, i am weary happy whit what we got.

The KK is one heavy camper so heavy that you had to be 2 people to put on the tow hitch.
the electrical system failed and whit out it no water from the water tank. whey don't they install a manual hand pump? Fridge had to be moved to the car.
A trailer in that prize range should have sola power as standard.
not a lot of storage space when you think of the size of the trailer.
and the spare tyre is mounted underneath, don´t like. we had a flat and it was a hassle to get out.
And last, the 4 burner in the slide out kitchen was just Shit.

we have a old basic trailer nothing fancy but it works.
and to a 10 of the prize.

I had a similar thing about 5 years ago at a camp site . young couple next to us had a brand new KK

They came over and kept on saying how nice our CT was . Which I said to them surprised me as my was about $8000 new and there's must have more than 4 times that . But they said there was not much storage in the trailer and it was very very heavy . surprised me as I thought they were the Rolls Royce of campers

BTW this couple had a land cruiser with a lot of bit spot lights on the front and it turned out that her farther owned Narva lights.. As I had just come from the UK I did not know who Narva were.

After construction, of which the Kimberly is heavy duty, weight comes down to how you pack it.

It just goes to show that you don't have to have the best of everything to get out there and enjoy it.  That is what makes this country so great - the views are free (well most of them are) and what you use to get there doesn't matter.  Some camper trailers are more expensive than others but so what - as long as people are out there enjoying the whole experience is what matters.

Mate i am talking about the CT not the car, I would love to get a new car and that is on the top of my list. The Exploder is not my dream car mate!

Hourses for courses...

We have a KK and are very happy with it. Had a cheap one before and every time the wind picked up beyond 10 knots we were holding it up. The KK has a problem with the tropical roof in the wind so its a personal choice.

I think KK have been cost saving to keep the price down and skimping on some of the accesories as we have had some teething problems with ours as well, but all that said the general construction is extremely strong. And the support to repair it is also great. The reason they are so expensive is that majority of the material and construction supports Australian manufacturing. Canvas is Australian made, Kitchen is australian made, the whole camper is Australian made...

BTW, There is a manual hand on the front next to the gas bottle. It is wrapped in canvas bag so that it doesn't get covered in dust and mud. Solar cells as well as electric beds are standard on the Platinum version.
