Howdee,

I have a Thethford 365 and wondering before you leave on trips, do you fill the reservoir section with water before you leave?? Or do I need to carry water to fill it once we arrive at our destination.

Thanks

Brett

hi brett we just got a porta potti youself the way i am thinking is that the top tank cap is not a air tight fit to allow air to get in when flushing so water would prob slash out just my thoughts

HI Brett You can do everything before you leave home the water tank can be filled then put a plastic bag under the lid it won,t leak.I found a plastic bin at Bunnings a dark grey one which fits the base perfectly  except the hight so when transporting used or unused no spills can leak into the CT. Hi all,

We have always filled ours before leaving and have never had a leak (touch wood).

same as BJ, I've taken our portapotti from brisbane up to fraser island a couple of times with the top tank full, stored in the camper, with no water splashing out.  the filler cap isn't really a water tight seal but unless you getting into rough tracks i don't think you'll have any problems...

We have always  filled our prior to departing also in the past 13 years not a drop has leaked and thats with using it on run with overnight stops maybe we have been lucky !

Yep, same here. We have a Thetford 365 also and always have filled it up before heading away and have never had any problems with spillage. So i'd say just go for it.

Cheers

We carted out Thetford 365 to the cape and back in the CT in all situations without a leak, but i usually put a wheely bin liner bag in the box just as extra insurance.

Thanks for the replies. It's filled with water and packed in a plactic bag (within the box) So off we go tomorrow and see how it handles the bumps on the beach.

You could always add the chemicals before you leave, and carry a two litre bottle of water.

Only the missus uses ours, but she never puts any water in it at all....just a dash of chemical to make it smell pretty...............but its only used for no.1's.......all else its a shovel !! ;D

I fill my top tank up with chemicals and put chemicals with a small bit of water in the bottom tank before leaving. Mine does leak a little bit but it usually only goes into the bowl. It's more worthwhile carrying water in the porta pottie than finding somewhere to carry the water.

cheers
