I am looking for a good quality to keep in the CT. Have been reading up on a LED LENSER M7R. They sound good and the best price I can fin is $149.
Not cheap but I am prepared to pay that sort of money for top quality.
Has anyone got one or had any experience with one, or recommendations of other brands.

Hi Trevor

I have the LED Lenser P7, great little torch with plenty of beam, don't know the M7R but if it's anything like mine, more than worth it
Cheers

I like the Inova T3. I buy a couple of them each time I got to the US, they sell well on eBay :)

Hi,
both my kids have led lenser torches - fry possums at 200m.  Very bright and a focused light point. Some can diffuse the light beam and dim the brightness.
Personally I find a multi led head torch much more use around camp or working in dark places chasing wires etc.
If I had one would I use it?
Yes, but only for long distance stuff, like getting back after dark with a boat, or a bit of nocturnal possum viewing.
They are ridiculously cheap on EBay, which is where my kids got theirs - they love them.
cheers

Looking at a LED Lensor myself, P7. These were around $100 until I checked them out on ebay.$35 plus postage. The real deal.200 lumens.
And if you want a REAL light, check this out. Over 1000 lumens 8)

I've recentely bought a LED Lenser T7. Great little torch with plenty of light for it's size. It's got a sliding head stock to change the beam spread - very effective.
Bought it from ebay for around $45 - bargain!

I'd suggest if you're paying less than $50 on eBay you may not be getting a genuine Led Lenser

That was my first thought but they insist they are genuine items.

Perhaps, but having played with one in a local camping shop and then played with mine (so to speak...), I can't tell them apart in either quality or function.
I'm a happy customer...

I wish I hadn't of seen these LED Lensers. My next random purchase.

I have been using an LED Maglite, it's heavy but in destructable and doesn't float, I dropped it off the side of the boat and had to chase it all the way to the bottom, the light kept working (only about 3m of water). It's a good unit but I would like one lighter.

I also still have a Pelican Sabrelight that I have been using for the last 15 years and I can't kill it. It is a filament light, I wonder if you can get LED upgrades for these?

I would have to agree Led Lenser is the market leader in torches, their maximum for light is 535 metres, which is pretty impressive.

I bought a led lenser P7 for myself one day and as I was driving home happy with my purchase I remembered it was my wifes birthday the next day so I gave it to her for a present and said if she didn't want it then I would have it and she could get something else.
Well she tryed it out that night and there was no way I was getting it back so I had to buy another one for myself. :-[
When it came time to get some christmas presents for the kids I bought another 2 and had their names engraved on them, made good practical presents that they should look after and keep for a long time.
I've since bought an H7R and it is every bit as good and has adjustable dimming as well as focus.
Quite a few freinds have since bought led lensers after seeing ours including one who got a X21, cant wait to see it in action.(I hope he remembers to buy his wife a birthday present).

That ebay link is a very good price.

I've heard reports that the cheaper ones on ebay are not genuine and the batteries dont last as long.  Chinese imitations I think.

We bought two Led Lenser P7's off ebay and even with delivery, they were still cheaper than buying a single P7 over here. They are a great little flashlight with a good light and long battery life.

And here was I thinking my 10 year old Dolphin was pretty good, but after reading some of these reviews I didn't know torches could be so bright.  :D

Wandering Tassie

Thanks for all the great feedback, information and links. Boy have torches changed since the last time I bought one.
Still keen on the M7R but the P7 seems very popular and at the e bay price are very hard to go past. Even if they are copies everybody seems very happy with them.
Bit more research to do this afternoon.
Suppose I could get one of each. ???

Wandering Tassie

Been doing a bit more research and it seems that the P7 and M7R are the same torch except one runs on 4AAA and the other rechargable.
