Hi all.

I am interested in getting a solar blanket for the CT.

Not real keen on the price quoted by the maunfacturer $900 (Challenge Trailers)

What are my options, do those silver tarps from Bunnings do a similar job?

Try camper trailers wa at:

Their prices are much more reasonable that that and they may fit your camper fine?

We checked out Bunnings when we were looking for a solar blanket. We wanted to buy silver type sheeting that is used in buildings for insulation in roofs and walls. The only trouble was we would have had to buy a huge roll worth $250. I did a lot of research and agree with SpoonyAU Cavalier campers is the cheapest. And it works great.

We looked at them.  http://www.hireurvan.com.au/index.php
They are at Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast.  3.6m x 2.2m $350  5m x 2.2m $400

Listern Swaggers all you really need is a silver sided tarp or similar off the roof of the camper . Tropical fly is the term to stop the full sun then the air space between it & the roof of the CT will be at ambient tair temp . All you need to do is block the direct suns rays on the roof . I have done just that with a raised roof spacer on the top ridge & 4 long poles to stretch the tarp out .
Keeps the sap & crap off the roof , bolcking the sun . Wholr lot @ $ 180 at any camping store . My tent maker quoted v$999 for tropical fly,  DREAMING .I now use a 3.5x7m plastic tarp from Annaconda  Have a think outside the square  .

I agree with the tarp. We went from not being able to be inside the camper for 5 minutes one day to being able to lie down for a comfortable for a snooze once I put the tarp up. Amazing the difference in temperature when you can keep the sun off the canvas and the air can get in between the roof and tarp and blow the heat away.

Hell, I got one at the Perth Caravan and camping show for $250 and thought that was a fair bit.  It is much like the Campertrailers WA type and was from Box and Dice Campers.  Not sure what the standard price is though.
