I am keen to see what the music preferences are of Swaggers who don't mind a bit of live music around a campfire.

I have only put up the most obvious genre's so if there is a sub style you like let me know and I will add it to the poll.

Also please post your favorite song titles up for your selected genre if you wish.

The sounds of the wind through the gums (gum trees that is).  Not sure what genre that is.

I cart around the sound of a thousand crickets in my head most of the time anyway.

What about none? :)

X 2  :D

I prefer the sights and sounds of the bush too, Counting Crows, keeping an eye out for The Eagles or listening out for other Byrds...

Sorry... couldn't help myself ;D

We generally prefer none also.  The worst thing is hearing someone else's music, particularly if it is of a type that you don't like.  We did have one night listening to music around a campfire, storms, wind, lightning and thunder around and we played War of the Worlds.  The music just seemed to suit the situation.  The kids who were pretty little at that stage, got a bit scared...

Don't you hate that, I have it all the time.
About to go and see a specialist to find out if there is anything that can be done about it.

Me too.

It's called "Tinnitus" so my boss tells me.  Also mentions it can be a real problem!  Lack of concentration (yep sounds like me), Tired and irritable (sounds like me not camping).  I've had it since I was a kid and the only thing that "covers" the sound is other crickets, frogs or Doof Doof from a neighbouring camp (which can be heard by everyone for 100k radius hearing impaired on not!).

I too prefer the sound of live crickets, frogs, wind in the trees, farting from a nearby chair and the sound of a can cracking the seal.  Means we are out in the Country and not at work battling bosses and traffic snarls.

GU_Thoma and Kit-e-kat, I have heard that listening to classical music can back the crickets off a bit, and is used in the treatment of tinnitus.  Alas I would rather listen to the crickets.  ;D

areyonga

I go with Gunna, I prefer the wind in the gum trees and the serenade of nature, should be a seventh point, "nature sounds" ;D

Dan, it's probably proportionate to the amount that wear flannos I'd say.  Get with the game and try it, you might be surprised.  ;D

I dont mind a little background music......softly played. But nothing really beats the sound of silence when out camping, get tooooooo much noise around the daily grind and home every day, a bit of peace in the bush is the ticket.

Good conversation is healthy too. 8)

Theres a couple of differant kinds of country, the stuff were the trucks broke, the girls gone off with the mechanic and the dogs with em or the more ballady stuff or the country happy stuff. You can keep the cut your throat stuff but ballads and happy are ok. My Ipod has everything from Wolf Mother to John Williamson so Im varied. Plus country has the hottest chick singers  8)
