Sad for us but I would say it was a blessing for him. I lost my mother 12 months ago next week from the same disease and was terrible watching her slowly fade away.

There's a good write-up on the Rolling Stone site about his career. Pretty amazing really. He sold over 45,000,000 records over his 60 years career, and outsold The Beatles in 1968.

His last song

Glen Campbell's last song chronicled his struggle with Alzheimer's disease:

wakychapmans

this may (probably will) sound kinda' odd...

but I clearly remember riding my Malvern Star dragster around the backstreets of Mayfield when I was 7 singing Rhinestone Cowboy in my head as I rode.

His death yesterday really took me back to that time in life... when the world was in front of me and everything was possible.

Made me think about things.  :'(
