Sort of makes you think that Ford had plans for killing off production in Oz for quite a few years doesn't it?

Funny about that, I'd say decision made 2008 when they also diverted the focus production line bound for Australia to Thailand.

All the design was done in Australia

150-200 Aussies employed for 12 mths designing it compared with thousands of Thais employed continuously building it . Ford spin marketing at its best.

I'd say it was the day after they received their megamillion dollar grant.

Apparently, Mazda have no plans to put their badge on it.  Let's see.

I like it. And I reckon it'd go OK off road too, live rear axle and all.

Yeah, it looks like a territory, but that's OK - the new terries don't look too bad. All the manufacturers are going to a Corporate Face anyway - the BT50 looks just like a Mazda 3 (If you squint. Hard.).

My understanding is that it's not the Territory replacement, but, as others have said, to compete against the Prado, Challenger and Colorado7. I believe that Ford are looking to bring in the Flex or Edge as a bitumen-based crossover. I'd buy a Flex, but only if I coudl get it with fake wood panelling. What I've heard is that the Explorer has been ruled out, along with the F-Trucks. We've already got the Kuga as the low-end SUV/Crossover, so these two new models complete the market segment.

I'm disappointed in the "not till late 2015" availability. As has been said, that's a long time to ceed the lead to the opposition. If I was Ford, I'd be prioritising this to get it here ASAP.

Can't wait to see it start to pop up in showrooms, and to get some local test drives/reviews.

Cheers,
Matto :)

Looks really nice, but I never buy the first of anything.....
Wait till someone else works out which wheels fall off and what needs fixing.

Perhaps in 4 years time when I trade the playdo?

Would love to know what's turning the gearbox.....Would it too much to ask for a 4.0 turbo diesel with a 3" exhaust on it and a 200 litre tank ???
Just a thought  ;D

As it based upon their current Ranger ute, I would guess it would be their 5 cylinder 3.2 litre diesel.

The Everest is built on the T6 platform (Ranger), so will probably offer the same range of engines. The 2.2 and 3.2 lt diesels.

What's wrong with just welding 2 cars together.
At least they haven't pretended that they haven't.

Take a look through the classified adds for 4wd's and you'll see a stack of low km, immaculate vehicles at prices you can hardly believe.
Generally for private sale, and sadly sometimes made up of more than 1 car.

Talk to the guys that do auto inspections, they have have had some scary run in's when trying to work out if it's ok or doggy.

I've even met cops how have brought a vehicle that turned out to be made up from more than 1 source vehicle.
