G'day all,

I've been taking my Cruiser and the wifes little hatchback to a local workshop in Cairns for a few years....... While I've found him to be good, he is a general mech' who works on all vehicles big, small 2wd and 4wd. So I'm interested to know if anyone can recommend a 4wd Mechanic in Cairns, possibly someone who really knows or specializes in Cruiser Wagons.......Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Barrabart.

I'm not from Cairns, but have had good dealings with Gary Tenni Automtive, at Redlynch/Freshwater i think it is. He has quite a large newish (3 years old) workshop. He knows his 4WD's, i have an 80 series cruiser.

Hey BB,

Check this out - it's only a couple of weeks old: http://myswag.org/forum/index.php?topic=12200.0

My recommendation is still with Steve from Advance Auto - he looks after our cars. He's got a ripper of an 80-series himself, and is good when it comes to 4WDs. He does everything, not just 4WDs, so might not be what you're after, but I can't recommend him highly enough.

Good luck - going by the other thread there's a lot of high-quality 4WD mechanics in town, so you should be relatively spoilt for choice!

Thanks!
Matto :)

Righto, I've done a bit of looking around and read the link to the other thread, i've decided to take BigDougies advice and have booked my Cruiser into Leigh Holmans Special Vehicle Services, had a yarn with Leigh this morning and he sounds to be offering all the advice and expertise i'm chasing........ The Cruiser needs a bit of everything from lighting upgrade, air con repair, engine service and tune up and might even get a Safari Snorkel fitted..... (though i'll see how the wallet is looking after the necessary stuff is completed). Anyway nothing i asked about seemed too much trouble for Leigh, and i know he's been swingin' spanners around Cairns for decades, bloody'ell i can remember cheering for Leigh Holman at the speedway as a kid.... anyway we'll see how things go.

I second this one.
We are very happy with all the work they have done on our vehicles...

Hey Barra,
Don't think you will be disappointed, and no am not just saying this because Leigh is my cousin.
He has always been real thourough with what he has done for me and I can say has never let me down, unlike someone else recommended on this thread.
Anyhow hope all goes well and you get your cruiser up to where you want it.

Righto,

The Cruiser has been in and all required work done, very happy with the result and service, seem like a good team Leigh's got working there........ I'll be getting both our cars serviced there from now on, so thanks for the tip big fella!!
