Campfire

Just found out this morning of the very tragic news of a Afghan Soldier working alongside the Australian Army, had opened fire on them at Parade, 3 x diggers killed and 9 x diggers wounded.

The pain and saddness of the those families and what they must be going through in the last 24 hours. My condolences go out to those who have lost a family member.

From what I can piece together , it looks like the 3 diggers who have fallen were Officers / Trainers.

The criminal who did this vile act had been in the Afghan Army for 3 years and working along our troops, he was killed during his actions so he didn't get away.

So many people have no idea of what did and still does go on over there, what it puts the people through who do go away to protect us... plus many other countries our troops are placed at currently.

My thoughts are with those over there and their families here, especially those that have paid this ultimate price for our freedom.  We will remember them.

This highlights the very difficult job our men and women are performing everyday over there. They are working alongside these men, attempting to form a trusting relationship, and training them. Sadly there is no way to know who is who. Their strength often lies in their anonimity.  Our soldiers should be commended for the job they do, both here and overseas. Never forget that there are plenty of men and women at home and overseas who never see the front line, but without who the good work could not continue (transport, ordinance, logistics etc).

It saddens me to hear of the loss of another 3 soldiers, and concerns me at the impact this will have on the morale and attitude of those serving.

Lest We Forget.

Very sad!

We have a few members here who recently served in that theater, It could possibly be a mate of theirs.

Our soldiers and their families are so proud of the work that they do. I know I am very proud of our son for the work he did over there and he says that until you see the conditions that these people live under you will never understand. His statement to me was "mum if what I did means that a girl gets  to go to school or children get medical help it is worth it" We should be really proud of our Defence Force.

Our guys and girls in the Defence forces, no matter what service, no matter where in the world they are serving need our support.

Those on Active service will only be strengthen by this, we not only need to support them but also those that they leave behind. This was truly a callous act by those we are trying to help. Whilst we can ask, if this is happening by people we are training and supporting then what hope is there.

There is always hope and a job worth doing otherwise our service people wouldn't be there, doing their best for us and our country.

Please always support them as they are following orders and by hell doing a darn good job.  Please also support Legacy who also supports their families when they don't come home.

R.I.P. Guys you are not forgotten
Cheers

Tonight we mourn the death of a fine Officer and two magnificent Junior NCO's currently serving their country and the people of Afghanistan. They were killed not by an honourable enemy on the Battlefield but by a craven, cowardly man purporting to be an Afgan Soldier. May he rot in hell, for he has done no good, he has shot three of our hero's in the back. This craven was not even brave enough to even face his enemy!

Here's a You Tube clip that show's what all soldiers want, and tragically many never get.

Try watching it without tears in your eyes.

It is American footage, but all soldiers, and soldiers families crave the same thing the world over.

And on a final note...... If you choose to not stand behind our Diggers and support what they do......... feel free to then stand in front of them.

Very sadly, a guy who works for me is mates with one of them. He just rocked up to our office in a mess. Just awful..

Just watched the youtube clip. Made me cry. # ffamilies won't get to stand at the airport and wait for their loved ones to come through that door. It is the most wonderful feeling to see your loved one walk out that door. So my heartfelt sympathy goes to these young mens families. Your heart stops when you hear this sort of news when you have someone deployed overseas.

PS If you don't support our troops being on deployment see your local member please don't stand outside the bases demonstrating. PLEASE
