Hairs. Might just be me, but the recycle bag might restrict some vision when looking for traffic from the left?
No man cave for me this weekend, doctors orders!

Cheers for the heads ups, I'll hang it off the back, shouldn't have any worries then,
That suxs about No Man Cave this weekend.

Behold! 20 meters of retractable air hose now available in my shed.

After 10yrs of ownership I figured it was time to set up the Staun's. Now to actually put them to use

Finished off the roof racks for the jayco.

50x25x3mm Aluminium RHS (off cuts from work)
Gal angle and pipe for the brackets (scraps from the man cave)
White satin powder coat (tacked it onto a work order)
Nyloc nuts and washers (man cave stock)
Black end caps (man cave stock)
Gal roofing screws (man cave stock)
75mm M8 Gal bolts - $13

Total cost... $13



When I get a chance I'll change the bolts to 65mm stainless and get some white end caps.

Now to roof mount 2X 80w solar panels on quick release slides and work out what to use the roof racks for...

That is ironic; I cleaned up and found a dead rat.  All the bench tops were full of tools that had to be put away.  Big job but looks good.

No work in the shed, but got two bedrooms painted in the house. Apparently, 10 years between coats is too long.
Change of colour too, looks clean.

I rebuilt an XW Fairmont 351 on the grass and under a tarp in a caravan park,  I had a 3x3 garden shed to strip the motor & gear down and rebuild them in.
Were there is a will, there is a way. Forgot how many times I pulled the diff in & out on the grass.
Then I woke up and hired a storage shed 6x3m, I was in heaven

How many heat beads did you use to cook your roast? Do you reckon the mesh will last very long?

Could this be used in places that do not allow fires?? Obviously  not in total fire bans...

Mick, a roast uses 28 heat beads, (14 on bottom, 14 on top gives 200c) as per this app  Dutch Oven Gourmet. Mesh I had lying around. Plenty more where that came from, but it should last a few years at the rate we use it.

MDSimpson, I'll let others get into the legalities but to me it's no different to using a normal gas cooker. The only actual flame involved is to get the heat beads going.

OK. How to....

1. Chop your gas bottle in half. Usual warnings.. VENT then WASH OUT your bottle THOROUGHLY before cutting. I used a cut off wheel on my 4" angle grinder. Bloody steel is harder than it looks..
Then smooth off the cut edge (grinder and/or file)

2. Drill some breather holes in the bottom.

3. You will need 2 pieces of mesh, one slightly smaller than the other. The idea is one piece of mesh supports the trivett, which the heat beads rest on. The other piece sits above the heat beads and supports the camp oven. Don't want the oven sitting directly on the beads as it might become unstable as the beads burn away.

The photos should show what I mean...

That's it for building.

To use it 1st get some heat beads going I use a Heat Bead Chimney. A few fire lighters underneath does the trick.

The amount of beads you need depends on what you are cooking. This app Dutch Oven Gourmet is a quick and easy way to work it out.

When the beads have ashed over place the appropriate number on the trivett for the bottom and the rest go on the lid.

Load up your camp oven with whatever you want, sit back with your favourite beverage and enjoy the smells
