Every sport needs to look at them selves now.
Seariously, 20 years ago it was doping, Olympics and questions still remain.
Salary cap, nrl(which still is an issue).

The biggest influence in sport is BETTING.
Fark that off and the game is played for the spirit of the game.

Just put sport persons back to a sensible pay packet.  Really they all get way too much money for what little 'work' they do.

Unconfirmed yet but would be fairly likely. Hope it's Langer and not pointing through.

Cricket, making world series soccer and basket weaving look good.
I DON'T CARE HOW NICE THE HAND SOAP SMELLS.....

You should never walk out of the public toilets sniffing your fingers.

Kangaron

Well the "investigation" was enlightening, it seems the Leadership group consisted of these 3 alone, ???

What a diagusting bunch of spoilt, entitled cheats.  If this is what the Gentlemans game has come to its lost me.

These scumbags should be banned for life to send a message that Cricket will never stand for cheating.

Just looking at the overseas news shows what damage they have done to both Cricket and Australia.
Herschelle Gibbs only got six months suspension for accepting money i.e. Bribery, from South African skipper, Hansie Cronje,  to throw a match. This turned into a full blown Court of Law affair. I don't think ball tampering is quite on that scale as much as I hate cheats and dickheads.

and Gibbs should have been banned for life as well...

if the penalties are more severe, then players will think twice before attempting something nefarious...

if smith and warner need to be made an example of, then so be it.  if the ICC are too gutless, then cricket australia need to step up.

i would have no problem with both being banned for life, and for bancroft banned for a year or more.

macca

Its not the ball tampering that is the real problem, its the premeditation of the leadership group, if thats the culture of the leaders of our cricket team then CA needs to get rid of the whole lot of them including Boof. What an example it sets for our kids

Really though when you take the storm back into the tea cup and think about it.  Steve Smith is about the only Captain that came out and publicly admitted to a premeditated plan to tamper with the ball.   If you think back to other ball tampering events, eg the poms with the lollies etc, was it really just the one person acting alone or was there other involvement.

To think cricket is the gentlemen's game you think it is, time to wake up.   Money removed the gentlemen from the game ages ago.

That's a good point, although I can remember what happened with Atherton. I feel sorry for Smith now because I think he's had a good rep up until now. Diff story with Warner. Anyway, just give them both 12 months, pick Smith again, but not Warner.

I'm not sure how this issue applies to franchise 20/20 though. Would they be prevented from participating in that?

based on current reports, warner is on the nose and may never be picked again...

IPL franchises would be able to offload players if they have breached ICC rules, i would have thought...

Having lots of friends on farcebook is the same as having lots of money in monopoly...means absolutely nothing!!

Only after it was put live by 400 camera angles on the screens all round the ground including a camera on the player comfort meter (See Tony Greig and 12th man ;) )

I'm fairly sure if that hadn't happened, plus the running out on ground to warn Bancroft he was in Shit, then shoving the bright yellow thing down his cods, and then being talked to by umpires on the pitch to empty his pockets - If none of that happened, I'm sure Smith wouldn't have come out and said they did it.

Is it the biggest shambles since the Chappell underarm ??? Anything worse? Breaching pay caps etc I dont think comes close... ???

I find it interesting that nobody is talking about how the TV station was tipped off to keep an eye on the ball for possible tampering and also eye on Bancroft. Audio bugs in the change room listening in ???

they weren't tipped off... the cameramen noticed it... not an unreasonable thing to believe... cricket cameramen have more often than not, been in the job for years and are experienced/trained to keep an eye out for these types of things...

do you honestly think that if SA/anybody had audio of them talking about ball tampering, that it wouldn't have somehow been leaked to the press already?

and the sponsors start walkin away... LG arseholed Warner ... who has been strangely extremely silent on this whole farce.

or is he waiting to sell his story to No Idea or Today Tonight for 100k. ??? ???
