Is David Warner fast becoming a flog? I like passion but he'll probably get a fine or suspension now and the South Africans will stir him up more. Hopefully it's to their detriment but he needs to start doing what he's paid for - making runs. He has a history of "flying off the handle" and cricket is one of those sports where you can't get away with it for too long.

Dare I say it, he is typical of the oft quoted "ugly Aussie sportsman syndrome" needs to pull his head in and worry about being competitive on field. Nothing wrong with a bit of sledging if it is done with good humour.

I think that now goes for a large part of the team  ::) Cricket used to be a gentlemans game but not any more. I'd rather see them lose with honour than win with that sort of behaviour  >:( >:(

supposably it was in response to comments made about his wife....i have no issues with the banter / sledging they do in the game, but if comments then revolve around family that's a different matter and i hgave no issues with his response (regardless of what his wife got up to years back).

agreed, but australians have been doing that sort of sledging for years...

if it's good for the goose...

no place for it at all, IMO...  sledging can be a part of the game, when done appropriately...

3rd time lucky

Matthew Hayden was "Captain Sledger", learnt under the tutelage of S Waugh & friends....but unlike others he backed up his mouth with consistent performances under pressure when it mattered.  Given the choice between the aforementioned opener and Haydos, its a no-brainer, lay down mizea.

So media is saying whaa whaa Warner has been dishing out similar stuff to opponents with comments about their family, but obvious can't take his own medicine. If that's the case then i have no issue with them serving up his own stuff back at him if he's been going others families.
Reports say he'd carried on big time all day with his sledging after that run out, one comment said to him was "settle down Sonny Bill, whoops I meant sonny"...lol.

SEN reported this morning a "Deal" was done so he didn't get suspended from the next game but has a large fine (large to you and me, 2 hours work for him) 3 demerit points (since when did demerit points start in cricket???) - that there is just ****ed.

So the rights are up at moment.... who would you like to see get them?
Still the dead wood Ch 9 crew? I still remember days of ABC running test cricket.. commentary was magic, Norman May only speaking when something happend... no ranting, no back patting or tongue in the ear rubbish like Big Bash...

Quotehttps://www.theage.com.au/business/companies/cricket-australia-faces-challenges-with-broadcasters-bids-20180320-p4z5c6.html
Under the existing arrangement, Nine pays about $80 million a season for Tests and one-dayers. Nine has held rights to summer Tests for about four decades.

Macquarie analysts have estimated Nine could afford to pay up to $100 million a season to retain these rights.

Ten currently pays about $20 million a season for the Big Bash League, which has been widely tipped to triple in value. Its audience has increased significantly in the past five years.

A source close to a major broadcaster did not believe the sport would crack the $1 billion benchmark expected in the media.

Wukkers

I wonder if that wanker would have put his shoulder into Matt Hayden?  Nah, too big, might retaliate.  Well and good when you're 6'4" and bumping someone 5'10".  Smith should have smacked him with his bat.

Yea your right, Smith did end up with a shattered collarbone, broken jaw, missing shoulder blade and dislocated neck... the massive force of the shoulder charge was on par with being hit by a loaded coal train...

I'm shocked Smith is still alive from the brute force of the attack..

Imagine if the shoe was on the other foot and it was an aussie that had driven the space shuttle through an opposition player forcing his shirt to stick to the sweat of his shoulder.. nobody would bat an eye lid - everyone would be ' big deal'...

Gee.. the bookmakers would be laughing.

QuoteA staggering collapse saw England stumble their way to 9/27 after just 15 overs in their first Test against New Zealand - before a sensational knock from bowler Craig Overton saw them avoid the lowest total in their 140 year history, when they were eventually all out for 58.

Much of the hype before the match was focused on the return of Ben Stokes into the England line-up, but the all-rounder made an eight-ball duck as Trent Boult and Tim Southee ripped through Joe Root's side, grabbing six and four wickets respectively.

Smith wont get the axe - there's noone else up to it. Reminds me a lot of the cant bat cant bowl cant field episode > if it was a low profile fringe player under the microscope CCA would sack him instantly. But in this case there's no way to shift the blame.

Moxley

That's amazing. Bancroft could have taken the fall by himself, but Smith owned up as well. I think that's a good thing, but they put themselves in this position. What were they thinking.  Given it's Australia who's done this, I don't know how they come back from it.
