When we looked around in 2020 at the MDC and Ezytrail versus the Lifestyle and Modcon we couldnt get over how much extra stuff you got in the Chinese ones.  Some of that stuff was obviously heavy steel though.

We ended up in a Jayco Crosstrak, as it was half a tonne lighter and just as cheap as the Chinese stuff.  I'd have loved a Lifestyle Reconn, but couldnt stretch to the $$.

Hybrids have basically replaced camper trailers in my opinion.  If you want to cook outside and sit outside and really only want to sleep inside, then a hybrid offers you that in a offroad/beach friendly width.

There are some crazy flash hybrids out now (Vision, Mountain Trail, Cub etc) that are basically fully loaded luxury vans, just a bit skinnier.

:D though hybrids were just hard top camper trailers, but most now seem to be caravans with chunky wheels and a slide out kitchen as well as all the usual fittings.  And very heavy.  That must be where the market is going.  People want their MTV  :D not camping anymore but travelling in luxury seeing the sights.  And the growth bracket is the 30-54 yr olds not grey nomads.  As the CEO said in the report:

" The change in consumer demographics is perhaps
most telling. Our first report showed heavy reliance on
the over-55 market. Today, the 30-54 age group has
emerged as our dominant segment, taking 46% of
trips and accounting for 42% of nights"
