A vintage Holden built in South Australia and transformed by a local father and son has driven into the history books.
The 1971 HQ Statesman restored by Matt and Vince Morgillo was awarded the 2019 Street Machine of the Year, one of the nation's most coveted auto awards.
The pair spent a decade under the hood on the classic car which boasts more than 1000 horse power and a 10.3 litre engine.

Somewhere it said it was worth 250K.......I don't care what they spent on it...apart from it not being legal, it ain't worth more than 30K !!

A post on Facebook from Village Roadshow

CALL FOR VEHICLES: FB please share the attached far and wide if you know anyone in the classic car community, particularly in QLD. Queensland based vehicles preferred. Thank you in advance. Owners PLEASE EMAIL vintagecarsearch@gmail.com with your (preferably) left hand drive American vehicles. Also 50s, 60s and early 70s motorcycles please.

Thanks so much to everyone who has taken the time to send in vehicles! It is amazing what is in this state and we appreciate you taking the time to send them in. The big hole in our numbers is still pre-1955 left hand drive American vehicles. We would be keen to see anything 1935-1955 that is clean and original. Thanks again! best Damien.

Also specifically seeking these models:
- pre 1957 Harley Davidson Panheads (standard and solo Police bike config)
- 1958 Lincoln Continental Convertible
- 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Seville
- 1957 Plymouth Station Wagon
- 1955 Sedan Delivery Van (any make)
- late 40s-early 50s trucks

Paying $800 per day for use of your car in a static display.
Ya get an extra $200 if you get used as an extra.

Our Fleetwood would be perfect, stock, L/H drive etc, but they don't need a 1964 model.
Bugger, don't ya hate when ya 1964 Cadillac is "too new" to earn some money.

Not sure if it get a run or not, but sent off some pics..... $800 per day, I can do that.

Thanks, i wonder why they went normal rego and not the classic or vintage rego.

Club rego has limits on how many days a year you can use them for - thats in Victoria.

EG: https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/registration/limited-use-permits/club-permit-scheme
You can buy either a 45 day or 90 day permit. This means, means you can use your club permit vehicle for that many days per year, but you must keep a log book of all your trips.

Natural patina looks fantastic. Many Ratrods are like that... clean it up of flakes, and just clear to seal it

like this style myself..  problem is you'd be a cop magnet more than a P plater in a Skyline...

It was interesting to see for sure since that spot is normaly taken by a zook sierra and being so close to salt water (like 2 minutes walk) you would think they would keep a car like that shuttered up in a garage or somewhere.

Jeepers Creepers

I've seen it at Rick's Diner a few times.

I'm of the idea, its proper patina with a sealer coat to save it.

She's a pretty wild old thing huh.

Its defently neat thats for sure and a nice change in town where all you mostly see is new stuff going about with the odd older car mixed in.

HOLY CRAP BATMAN:..... this is the reply I got this afternoon.

*****Thank you for contacting us. We are shooting a feature film in the Gold Coast early next year about Elvis. Your car would be very useful to use in the movie. When more information comes to hand I will be back in touch.
