We had a few glitches, especially when a contractor digs up a a main power cable that cuts power to our rooms just as we book in. But more on this later.

Mark

Ya could of got your photographer to fix that for ya :)

Congratulations guys. Wonderful spot for a wedding.
Cheers, John.

Any prospective grooms out there don't let the other half see the photos, cause Mark has set the bar pretty high.

Seriously, thanks for sharing your special day with us. Magnificent setting.

Cheers Glen

The day had come and we left Warburton at 5.00am Sat morning for the 6 hr drive to Yulara. We arrived at 1.15pm and bumped into John and Julie, Symon and Kirsty at Emu Walk Apartments, everyone's accommodation for the big event.

Penny and I went to book in when all of a sudden the power went out at reception. Some contractor had dug a hole and cut into a main power cable. This cut power to all the one bedroom units we were all staying in. No problem it should come on soon so the reception staff offered Penny and I some drink vouchers so we could go to the bar and wait for the power to come on. We explained that we were the party getting married and advised I would need more drink vouchers for our friends. So with a handful of drink vouchers we all headed to the bar. My family also joined us at the bar.

After a few, quite a lot, of drinks I headed to the reception to find out the status of the power issue and was advised that the power may be out all night. I was told they are in the process of moving us to another area in the resort and would get back to me once it was sorted. Naturally this meant I had to ask for more drink vouchers for the wedding guests.

Time was moving on and I headed ( staggered) to the reception to find out what was happening and they advised we would all be moved to the 2 bedroom apartments at Emu Walk with no extra charge as we had only booked 1 bedroom apartments. The Porter grabbed our bags and moved all of us to the new apartments.

Sunday dawned and Penny and I with Symon and Kirsty were taken by our wedding co ordinator to the lookout where the wedding would take place. More wedding guests arrived and the bar was calling so we all headed down. This evening we were all heading to the Sounds of Silence Dinner. After gathering at reception it was only a short bus trip to the dinner. We had a short walk up a small dune to a timber deck where we enjoyed wine and beer with canapés, overlooking the Rock.

The wedding guests.

Penny and I

Mark, Kerry and Olivia.

Symon and Kirsty, our great photographers

After the canapés we walked down a short track to our dining area

Geoff and Kay

My family. Parents at the bottom of the screen who celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary that night. (Penny and I arranged a cake for them) On the right my son Jack, daughter Jaime-Lea, my sister and her partner and my Aunty and uncle.

The meal was fantastic and a lot of it. We also had a talk about the stars from an Astronomer who had a great laser pointing out the stars constellations. We all headed back by bus to our accommodation after this as it was around 10.30pm with the wedding starting the next morning at 5.30am. One more night of being single.

To be continued.

Well as someone who had, until 6 days ago, never been to the 'Rock', (other than maybe flying overhead at a very great height at some time in the past)...

I had an absolute ball and I'm so, so glad that I was able to be a part of the Wedding of the Year  ;D

Now, I need to pour myself something chilled while I get on with editing some more photos!

The big day arrived, morning I should say, as the guests and I met out of the front of reception to be ferried to the lookout at 5.00am. Penny, in the mean time, was at the hairdressers since 3.30am.

We all gathered at the lookout waiting for the bride. As the sun eased its way up Penny arrived for the short walk up to the lookout with her father.

The ceremony seemed to go quick and before we knew it we were married. After the normal photos we headed to another spot for pics while the guests headed back to the resort for the reception.

It was Kay's birthday (Geoff's better half) and Penny and I had a cake pre made ready for her. After the reception we all dispersed for some nanna naps before attending the Geoff and Mark VS drinking party in the afternoon.

Tuesday morning arrived and most guests were heading home. After 3 months of planning it was over. So quick.

A big thank you to everyone who attended our special day. Thank you to John (JK) for being my witness and made sure I was sober for the wedding. It was great to catch up with family and great friends.

Pic time:

A massive thank you goes to Symon and Kirsty who captured our wedding perfectly. We can't thank you both enough.

It was our pleasure to do the camera duties for you and Penny Mark.  I would also like to thank you for preparing such perfect conditions for photography.  The colour contrast between the red earth and the white was brilliant, and the early timing coupled with the overcast sky gave us lovely soft light to work with as well as stunning clouds.

It really was an effort to take a bad photo.
