So we decided to sign up to Netflix and give it a bit of a trial. Well we're all hooked!

Kids love the choice of kids shows, the mrs loves the docos and I'm loving some new shows such as Daredevil. There certainly seems to be lots of choice and works well on our TVs, iPads and iPhones.

Have certainly noticed our internet usage going up. We have a 200gb plan and so far have never gone over or even close, well this month we've used one of our 3 yearly quota top-ups where Telstra so kindly gives you another months quota for free 

At this rate we're going to need to increase our data plan.

So who else has been bitten by the Netflix bug?

Shrek, haven't used Netflix yet but we too were on the 200 GB plan. About the time Netflix launched in Aus, Telstra wrote to us and advised that because we were loyal customers, they were changing our plan, by upping it 300 GB/mth.

Nah, not yet. The Telsta girl I spoke to said all plans will get a data boost at some stage and it is being rolled out progressively. Guess time will tell. Be a bonus when it does

I did see that, all Telstra owned equipment on our country exchange. Plus, on a contract which only started mid last year. To be homest if they do a data bump to 300gb and after the initial wow factor wears off and we're all back at work/school I'm sure that will be plenty (I hope).

Telstra gave us an extra 300 gb on our 200 plan, so now we have 500 gb.

Never used more than 100

We had Netfix a few years ago but when we bought the country place [ no internet ] I gave it the flix and went back
to downloading and hard drive storing.
From my understanding most of the content on the Oz version is only SD? [ I stand to be corrected]

Much of it is HD with some of the featured shows UltraHD. I've not yet had cause to complain about the quality. Helps I'm on ADSL2+ and get around 12Mbps.

I agree the U.S. netflix has so much more on it and cheaper , we have had it for over a year now and have got rid of foxtel , we had 200 gb and we started going over uped to 500 go and all good and pleanty left for downloading

The kids have been bugging me a bit about this but as we have Austar I haven't been to worried about it. What's the go with getting a US subscription if it is cheaper and better?
I do have the Telstra 500gb upgrade and ADSL2 but absolutely crap download speeds that Telstra seemingly can't rectify so would Netflix work for me? Do download movies and shows already so am used to this. Not even real sure how Netflix works but I can google search for that

You have to do a few tricks to get around the geoblocking, such as using a VPN and a couple of other services so that you have a US billing address.

Iinet and Optus offer it quota free

Give it a while and the AU Netflix site will start to increase in content

To set up us netflix go to unblock us they are a Vpn site ther you get a us email address linked to your IP address so your normal email is not affected , $5 us a month then follow there instructions on how to set up Netflix $7.99 a month and all is good , there is so much more content on the us one compared to aus and only one price not choose a plan ,

But the US site won't be unmetered. Not all of us have unlimited web access quotas. I've only got 50GB. Wouldn't take long to burn through that.

BUT I'm with IINET so having AU netflix unmetered, as well as iTunes and XBOX, ABC iView content all unmetered means I never get close to using it all.

Ha ha - The iinet freezone helps, but we don't download a lot of stuff.  Its a bit of a catch 22. Its a very old plan that coincidentally costs exactly the same amount as work contributes towards my home internet. So if I were to change I would have to pay the difference, and I'm too tight to change

Yeah 50 gig won't go far at all we were on 500 gig and Telstra just put us up to 1 tb for free , we use 4-500 a month in normal use and downloading as well

yes agree but your Australian subscription works for US content, just need to trick the Netflix site into thinking you are in the USA

I have the Australian subscription. How would I go to get the US one using mine?

Westnet is also unmetered. iinet bought them a few years back.
