Mateyou did not pay a deposit

Regardless of if he asked for 1 or not it is your responsibility if you wanted it that bad

Untill a deposit is paid you are just some random on the phone who may or may not get on a plane. As far as i am concerned he has done nothing wrong

Sorry but i have had to deal with so many tire kickers and offshore oil rig workers in the past i can completly see why he took the action that he did cause a definite at your front door is better than a maybe who is just someone on the phone talking about coming down

Yep you are right I didn't.  But there were considerable discussions between is in regards to where the camper was located, not at his home, when it would be there.  He said this weekend.  We arranged a time for me to view, 2pm saturday.   Confirmation of flights etc.  It wasn't simply "Hey mate like your van, might jump on a plane and come look"

It still remains that it would have been polite to have simply called me (based on the firm arrangements I had made with him) after the other interested person called him.  If only to let me know there was another contender and give me the opportunity to give him a deposit if that is what he wanted.

At the end of the day.... by not calling me he decided I wasn't buying it, not me.

Either way that camper was not meant to be in my garage, and thats the way it has worked out.

I can understand your disappointment Ian  >:(. Hopefully you have better luck next time  :D.

I have always found that if you want something you need to 'strike whilst the iron is hot'  >:D.

I put the pressure on them by letting them know that my time is limited and that I am looking at other options. If they don't want to "go out of their way" to have the goods ready for inspection, it tells me that they might be a lazy seller or may just be 'testing the market'. Either way there is a good chance they could screw you around. A genuine seller usually does what they can to co-operate with the buyers. After all, they want to sell, but you don't have to buy!

After months of searching, I found a 90hp Honda outboard that I wanted at a great price. Rang the guy (dealer) and said I will drive up the next day (Sydney to Gold Coast). Left home at 4.30am and got to Burleigh Heads at 12.30pm (local time).

As I was strapping it on the ute, a guy turned up and wanted to buy it. Too late, the deal was done. If I had hesitated by half an hour I would have lost it. Unfortunately, the reality is 'you snooze you lose', even if the snoozing may not be your fault.
