Penny got me a surprise for my birthday a couple of weeks ago.

Gave it a test run and works great. Nice and simple to use and just keeps pumping out the ice.



The ice sits in a basket



First load took 1hr and then every 20 minutes.

Must add this to the next camping trip

I'm on my second one of these after about 8 years. A clue to increase the life is to drain the unit after use but this isn't necessary if you use it weekly but most important is to leave the lid open slightly as condensation affects the circuit boards around the display. If the weather is hot use the smaller ice size as the unit will waste time trying to make the bigger blocks and the output can be seriously reduced.

I couldn't get one of these to work on a 2kw/4kw peak eBay inverter. It would run on my 1kw generator but the gennie would nearly stall when the compressor kicked in. I think you would want  at least 10 times the operating amps for compressor startup.
