Hi All,
Looking for a walk-trough or step-though camper trailer.
Cam you please list any manufacturer and price, that produces these type of models.
From what I have found so far

  • Lifestyle Camper Trailers $9000 - $20,000
  • Market Direct Camper Trailers $9000 - $13,000
  • Customline Camper Trailers $9000 - $18,000
  • Tru Blu Campers $28,000
  • Camel Campers from $13,500
Please list anything that you have been looking at, and the price.
I can see this type of model being the new standard of camper trailer,
and I anticipate that this market will get quite competitive.
Lets find the best value model here!!!

I think the walk up CT is a good thing but it comes with some drawbacks.  One it is a lot longer.  Two it has a lot of extra weight on the drawbar.  Three it is more expensive.

There now, is that helpful  :D

Walk ups are great, we have a Tambo Omeo which unfortunately are no longer in business. Any of the Aussie made ones would be my choice.

Thanks Fuji,
Do you have one??

Had one but now have an Aussie Swag hard floor. If I was to go back to a soft floor, Customline would be in the top three.

Hi Campertrailer, no offence meant, but your thread post just seemed too broad, and to me sounded like you were a CT builder looking for market research.

I've just ordered a Trackabout and after 8 months of reviewing every walk up option on the Aus market, am very happy I've selected the best value one for me and my budget, but in terms of value of a $10k walk up versus a $30k walk up, big difference in quality.  Value could possibly only be assessed by your budget.

I feel like I've just bought a Lexus as opposed to a Great Wall vehicle. They'll both do the job, but for how long, will they perform if I decide to 'do a lap of Oz' and what will the value be of each in 5 years if I want to trade up or sell.  Let the posts begin:-)

After a lot of research I bought a Camel Bushman. For less than 20k it was good value. Well built and all Oz canvas. No longer have it only as I upgraded to a Vista.

No, not looking to import one.
Doing some research to see whats on the market.
It wasn't until I started to look, that I realised how many manufacturers out there.
I need a walkthrough for the extra room for storage. (5 kids)

I was watching the 4x4 touring show on Aurora last night.
They had one of the Johnno's Campers Dealer on.
I noticed in the background that they had a walkthrough.
Can't see them on there website.
Has anyone got one??

Hello campertrailer I am new to here too. We have just ordered a Customline Adventure Walkup with a few extras. We liked the write up in the Campertrailer Australia mag last month. and it is an all Aussie made product. Not long to go now 4-5 weeks and counting.
Good luck in your search, we spent about 18 months looking and looking. But I think the wait is worth it. we got what would suit us.

Hi Campertrailer

I have a walk up Customline.  One of the reasons I liked them is you can spec them up or down depending on your budget.  We have a stainless kitchen, water tap in sink and external, full annex, overnight awning, tool box, water tanks, 12V power, etc etc.

Since buying it I have installed an inverter and a diesel heater (SWMBO loves that mod).

I have done over 25,000 kms with it.  Up the middle to Darwin, back to Melbourne through central Qld and NSW.  Just two months ago I took it to Fraser Island with no dramas.  I have done thousands of k's off road and it hasn't missed a beat.

The only negatives I have is that I reckon it might be a bit heavy but it is my first camper so I don't really have anything to compare it with.  That said it tows great fully loaded or not.  The other thing is setting up the tent can be challenging as it is so high it doesn't just flop over, you need to push it up with one of the tent poles.  Once we got the hang of it we can set it up in ten minutes.  Add another 10 for the annex but I often pack it up with the annex on which makes it easier.  They use a very good quality canvas (15oz I think) which would add to the weight.  I am happy with a bit of extra weight with top quality materials though.

Oh and a must have option is the canvas bed cover.  It is great if you have to pack up wet.  When you get to your next stop you can set up and be in a nice warm and DRY bed every time.

Good luck with your choice of camper.

Cheers
