Dave, I've got the king goanna chair, had it for some time now, and it's easily the best camp chair ive had. Strong and really comfy, with adjustable lumbar support and arm rests. Looks good too! I'm a big rap for the oztent stuff- we also have 2 stretchers for the kids and the table. I reckon it's all good quality stuff. Now the good wife wants a chair as well, I have trouble keeping her out of mine ;D

I bought 2, one of them cracked at the front plastic bit on the arm rest . Oz tent replaced it straight away without any hassles.I didn't have a receit but said I purchased at camping show",no problem we will send you another one".Thats great service for a great product.

But do they have the beverage holder on the left hand side?

So many of the chairs available only cater for right handed folk...

Good to hear Matt. I think I'll pick one of these up soon - I've liked them for a while. Last time we were out one of our chairs broke, so I've got an excuse now...

POD

A few things:

1. I own a King Goanna. By far it is THE most comfortable chair I have ever sat my cute little ass in. But Mrs POD hates it! How good is that?!?!?

2. It may well have two drink holders but I think they are VERY poorly designed. They are in slings underneath the arms whereas I think they could've quite easily put them IN the arms and made them a lot more user friendly. I use a little aluminium stool/table for my drinks. A bit of a pain in the bum (maybe I should stop putting it in there - but that's another story!!) but worth it I suppose for the sheer comfort of the chair.

3. I bought mine at a shop called Getaway Outdoors in Perth - less than $75. Do some shopping around and drive a bargain - especially of buying multiple items.

4. Would I buy one again? - you bet. Grouse chair, love it.

The Goanna gets our vote....we like the zip at the top of the chair to store the bag and pad the head rest......sturdiest and most comfy camp chair we have owned.

King Goanna
Love them but are a little on the bulky side when it comes to storage...can't have everything I guess.

Work out if you want the soft arm Goanna or the hard arm Kokoda. I have one of both, but I use the Kokoda.

ditto on the kokoda, easily the bet chair for the campfire I have used :)

We have an ARB chair, which is like the Kokoda (in that it has the hard aluminium arms). I usually end up with it at night because the arms get cold, and J steals one of the soft-arm chairs for campfire lounging.

The Kokoda/ARB design is much better for sitting up at a table than the traditional style of camp chair.

Hi,

Dear Dorothy Dix,

the Mrs is banging on about replacing the lounge chairs now I've done the tiling and the new carpet and curtains are done.
I recon a couple of comfortable camp chairs would be great, (but I'm happy with my 'comfy' chair as it is.)
Can't for the life of me see the need to spend more than a set of lockers on a set of  chairs for a group of nattering hens to sit in on the occasional coffee morning.

Am I not being reasonable here??

cheers

KevinD4D

I would not have said so mate but I am facing the same dilemma here at the moment. $5K+ for a few chairs and I can't see what's wrong with the old ones...I feel I could put the money to much better use...

Wayne, got mine from RV Superstore in Ferntree Gully. They have all the chairs there, and a heap of ther oztent products. Paid retail, $90 from memory, but I was in there getting some other stuff, tried one and walked out with it! If you do go there, I guarantee you'll walk about with more than what you intended.  ;D ;D

We love our Oztent King Goanna chairs too but the drink holders on ours are useless.  Unless the drink is empty you'd lose most is it on the ground as they tip.  Not sure of the newer chairs are the same.  We use a small folding aluminum stool between our chairs. Plenty of room for drinks and snacks.
