Why bother having any rules at all !!

At a spot I enjoy camping at, there is no power, it has limited sites for Ct's and caravan's. There is a large sign as you enter stating "Generator's NOT permitted" and again when you fill in your registration it is on the form plus it's on the back of the tag you have to display on your tent but that rule must only apply to us clown's who have solar.
To make it worst another caravan shows up and they pull out there generator as well and decide if they can then we can too!!!
I speak to the ranger and he tells me he has spoken with them about it but if the genee not running when he comes along there nothing he can do >:D

I must hand it to this couple even after I let them know at 7pm Saturday night they could turn it off or I'll do it for them, they got up Sunday morning and come 8 am lets start the thing again and then went fishing leaving it running... >:D

And we all jump up and down when places get closed down......I wonder why   ???

Rant over....

rockman

Pull the plug on it or stop whining about it !

Even better, un plug it and cut the plug off the cord.

Cut the extension into 10 pieces.  Like the ranger, if they don't see it, there's nothing they can do about it.

Hi,
use a lead pencil to draw a line from the top of the plug to the base.
It will be very hard to detect, and no amount of pulling on the cord will start the damn thing unless they clean the mark off or change the plug.

cheers

Too obvious!

Unscrew oil filler cap half a turn or so.  Hopefully it wont have an oil alert!  >:D

The user albeit annoying may have a legitimate medical reason for running the genny. I'd simply switch it off rather that disabling it.

Apologies if anyone took offence - non meant.

We need a "toungue in cheek" icon.

The main issue is the use of a genny in a non generator area.  if someone has special needs for one, then they should plan accordingly.

No offence taken, if this topic was in the Electrical section rather than the General section well then you'd have a fight on your hands  ;D

That is so true d4d our son gets bad asthma at times and we used to take a nebuliser with us ,now we have since bought a 12v portable one ,now imagine if you got back to camp and the boy needed treatment, how would the CLOWNS that cut the cord feel when they see the little fellow gasping for air
cheers

Cutting the cord doesn't disable it.  It just means they'd have to run the genni right next to their sick son.  (who they left at camp while they went fishing all day)

And if I had a sick son, I'd make sure I had a backup plan than to reply on a working genni.

I am an Insulin dependant Diabetic and when I travel I have to carry supplies kept to below 8deg C and I don't have to much problem with refrigeration normally. I have solar and 240volt supply, but as every one knows it does rain, systems some times fail so my backup is a quiet Honda Genset. As you can understand loss of my insulin can be very serious so keep this in mind when you cut the lead you could be causing some body a lot of grief. Think before you act.

Ps I also have sleep apnea which is another burden on the 12volt system.

Redback

It says no generators allowed as you drive in and also on the form, if you had half a brain you would go somewhere else and run your generator, simple really in my view or ask permission from the campground owner, they may be able to put you somewhere your not going to affect others that don't need generators.

Why do inconsiderate people think they can just do whatever they bloody well want, inconsiderate people ****me2tears >:D

Is it so hard to ask ???

You're not my wife are you ;)

She's got the same conditions as you!

And we've got similar thinking - 240v then 12v solar then backup gen if SHTF

Those who are sick and need a geni to survive, and then camp in a non-geni camp ground are just making an early nomination for a darwin award.  It's your own fault/kama if your geni fails.

I hate solar panels. But I love my Honda!  >:D

Marschy

I found the same issue at Martin Bend in Berri, you are allowed to use a geni up until 8pm.

Inconsiderate couple in a caravan next to us were obviously on a very long trip. They had portable washing machines and all manner of other 240 volt appliances. They were watching late night movies until about 11pm each evening or had the washing machine running with the generator chugging away the whole time. Didn't give a damn about any other campers in the campground. I'm sure they could read the sign at the entrance just as well as I could (I fink).

Problem is, do you risk an altercation if you remind them of the conditions of entry into the campground and ruin your whole trip, or just suck it up and drink more. I opted for the latter, and still had a good time. It does stay in your memory though about whether you will visit a site again.

McGirr

The biggest problem is there no one is there to police it. A courtesy pardon me but do you mind turning it off cannot hurt but some people take offence to that.

I use a generator sometimes but abide by the rules and always ask anyone who is close by if they are happy if I run it for a while and also offer them power.

I always try and camp well away from other campers if I need to run it.
