How old before we can take the newborn out

Our 1st is about to turn 1 and he's been on 9 trips already, and we've only just upgraded to a CT.  The first was at 6 weeks to Straddie, and he's loved every one.  He's only just started crawling so the nxt trip is going to be completely different for sure.

Take the sheets out of the cot from home that he/she has been using as it will smell familiar.
