Hi swagers

we are looking at buying a generator to use with our new ctek mxs25 battery charger to charger our 200ah battery in the ct

i have been looking for a good generator around 2 kva
the honda and yamaha look good but i have came across the kipor and there a bit cheaper
does any one own the kipor?
my mates have a mix of hondas and yamahas and engel genny's and all seem very quite
any sugestions or recommendations

Have a look at Kulkyne Kampers they are releasing a new 2Kva Genny.

A 1 KV Genny will be ample to run that charger, unless you want the 2 KV to run something else.

The 1 KV will be quieter also

Not up there with Honda, but Ryobi are in the process of releasing a range of inverter generators probably priced a little bit below Kipor, but with better warranty etc. paul

i was looking at the 2 kva to run power tools and a small arc welder for bush repairs

i would rather go with a gennie that has been tried and tested rather then a newby on the market

There has been a lot of discussion about this topic on here, so u could try a search for more info, i know this as i have just yesty done this very thing based on most of the feedback from this site, which was very informative.

I went for the Honda 2,0I, or 2KVA gennie, i to thought of only the 1KVA, but would rather a bit to much then not enough. The Honda for me was very close to the Yamaha, but as i have a few Honda products, which include a dirt bike, lawn mower, blower and a couple of others, and have never had any trouble with them, the choice was pretty easy.

That said, i think the Yamaha would also be a very good unit. Honda at present have a very good deal going, $300 cash back and a few extras to go with it, i bought mine from Aquip field days yesty for a great price, $1600 which was field day spec.

If you Google Honda generator u will find the sites that are offering the deals i spoke of, u cant go wrong.

I have no affiliation with Honda wat so ever, i'm just a very happy owner of a number of products, my prized possesion would be my XR 650R which rocks the house.

You can't go past the big two..Yamaha and Honda...

Why....

Well a couple of months ago, I went into the small engine workshop at work to get a genie for some portable drilling I had to do in a park...anyway, the mechanic on duty says..."all out accept the Honda on the top rack..its a i10, it has'nt been used for over 18months."
He got the fork lift down...bloody thing was covered in dust.
He checks the tag..yep he says"I was wrong, its been 2 years!"
I was thinking to my self...well this is going to be fun, getting this thing to start.
He dusted it off with a rag, checked the oil level...filled the petrol tank up, choked it and pulled the starter....fired the first time.
I took it to the job, ran for 6 hours...no probems..

That is what you are paying the premium for.

I have an old honda 5kva with a 550cc motor on it from the mis 80's. Even with stale fuel it starts with a pull of two witout being started to a year or two

I have a 2.6kVA Kipor generator, runs well, never had a problem with it.

For the amount of time I use it I couldn't justify spending the extra for a Honda or Yamaha.

Power boss generators are new to Aus but have been in the states for quiet awhile they have a Briggs and Stratton motor they are about $1599

We have a 2KVA Kipor and can't fault it. Its no more noisey than a Honda and like Symon for the amount we use it I couldn't justify the extra money for a Honda. I have a mate who has had a Kipor for about seven years and it has never let him down.

We have a Honda EU10i Fantastic.

We use it to run our cappacino machine when out bush, gotta have good coffee

Have you seen the gas powered gennys? Spotted them in a fourby mag. I don't know much about them but if you own a diesel It's one type of fuel you don't have to carry and store.

i have a eu10 honda and its been great little bit quieter than the yamaha,also has built in battery charger,which is handy be carful of the cheapies if you have agood fridge ,they can do a lot of damage.can get 7 hours running a fridge and light out of a tank of fuel, and bloody quite 52db

My Honda 1 kva runs the Ctek easily on full charge on economy mode.

As for welding we use a 1 kva and a 2 kva coupled together and it runs an inverter welder great.

Some say it can't be don't hooking up different kva's but we have not had a problem just make sure you connect the welder into the 2 kva

There are a few 1 kva for sale as people have bought them and then find they don't run there air conditioning for their caravans and upgrade to a 2 kva

I just purchased one of these from super cheap. I've been doing some looking around and I reckon these look every bit as good as a Kipor or similar. I bought this mainly to run a ctek 1500 battery charger and this has more than enough capacity for that. I plan to get it going tomorrow to see what it's like and give it a good run in.

Nice looking piece of kit, but I still have nightmares about starting a Briggs and Stratton motor...they just don't me.

bought it 18th posted 19th arrived 23rd in Manji (300km S of Perth} so good service.

I ran my 16" Makita dropsaw thru some 2" pipe and fairly loaded it up and not a whimper or complaint from it.
I have yet to try the welder on it

I haven't done a side by side noise test against the Honda 2kVA yet, but as I was running outside near a metal shed it wasn't silent

i looked at the 1 you brought and almost got 1 myself but since we are relying on it when camping on our big trip we decided to pay the extra and go the honda for piece of mind

I would be happy with the Honda for ngeneral camping, but I use mine for work as well so the honda wasn't big enough.
The Infocom was a total of $510 delivered to regional WA, so I am happy so far
