I actually sent an email to GoPro last night to see if they had any plans to release a wireless remote. This would be fantastic for 4wding as most footage is taken from outside the vehicle and its a bit of a pain to keep getting in and out to start/stop recording.

They replied this afternoon saying "stay tuned ..." so I believe there is one on the way. I'll definitely be getting one.

Cheers, Sam.

Watching your videos I am seriously considering getting one myself...

Check out Rambos Locker. http://rambos-locker.blogspot.com/

He does heaps of go pro filming on the outrigger paddling circuit and he is also the moderator of a gopro forum.

He has heaps of mods listed (external batteries, remote panning etc)

We put our GoPro up on a tripod during a camp set up and then sped it up for a great camping vid.

Love it damo, but what is with the whipper snipper?  Lol

He he. The camp is usually covered in nettles so an hour with the whipper snipper saves liters of calamine lotion!

It's a good way of checking the site for unexpected surprises. :)

Okay so I'm finally pulling my finger out to order one.

GoPro Motorsport seems to be the best, in order to get the windscreen mount.  Does it come with anything useful for bullbar mounting too?

If I want to run it inside the vehicle for prolonged periods, I guess I should plug it into the DC.  But to do that, I'll need to buy the skeleton case as the case it comes with doesn't have the side opening to allow cables to be used at the same time, yeah?

Is the LCD backpack worth it?  But when you're using that, its no longer waterproof, is it?

i used one of the sticky things, and mounted that on my bullbar.. it's never come off. - can also use the suction cap window mount on the bullbar if you have a bit enough spot.

i didn't think you could run power to it while it was in use, and mounted. the case that comes with it does not have a side opening - correct.

YES it is worth every cent. and YES it is still waterproof. when you buy the backpac you get a new rear case that covers the LCD screen.

hope that helps.

You can record while charging, the skeleton case is good because if you are talking and want it on the vid too.

If you want to mount it on the bull bar i would get the rollbar mount as well nice and easy to chuck on quick and your not stuck putting it in one location.

A couple of things...

- Definitely get the Skeleton Case so you can charge if mounted on the dash or windscreen.
- We've used the suction cup on the bullbar with no issues.
- Buy a packet of anti fog inserts. They will fog up at times when in the waterproof cover.
- LCD BacPack is a must. So easy for lining up shots and taking still photos.
- GoPro reckon there's a wireless remote coming... let's hope so!

i just got one the other day off ebay mainly for on board vids of my 1/5 scale rc cars and boats, paid $288 plus $20 postage for a motorsports pack from performance downunder.(allmost felt like i was stealing it lol)
a couple of things iv picked up off other forums is avoid using cheap cards get a couple class 10 good cards, and use that little rubber thingy in the clip to stop that clicking noise.
you could use a tripod mount on your bullbar if you have a spare ant mount just use a big washer and a 1/4 bolt.

One other thing about the LCD Bacpack... With it attached, you can read the full settings menu, not just the 3 letter codes on the camera screen. Makes it easy to adjust in the field without having to have the manual.

Dion

Thanks all.  Placed the order just now.

GoPro HD Skeleton Housing
GoPro Anti-Fog Inserts
GoPro Handlebar Seatpost Mount
GoPro HD Motorsports Hero Camera 1080p
GoPro LCD BacPac
Tripod Mount

Figured the handlebar/seatpost mount would be useful for mounting onto roof racks or tent poles if I wanted some static type shots.  Plus I can use it on my MTB  ;D

D'oh should have waited before buying mine  >:(

Oh well, looks like all the cases etc work between both, so should just need to buy a new 'bare' camera.

The new HD2 looks pretty good, but it means you can pick up the HD1 nice and cheap.

We retail the GoPro cameras an we have 2 HD1 cameras left and they are the naked model. They come with the Waterprrof casing etc, just not extra mounts.

These last two are $285 delivered via registered post.

We will stock the new ones when they are released but they will be up around $390 odd.

Let me know if you want one of these, as they will not last long at all at this price.

Cheers
Mongrel.

My 15 year old son save up his pocket money and bought the first HD model.  I was pretty sceptical of him spending his money on this but there are amazing.  I gave him a hand making a pole mount for the camera out of an old golf club and he used it to make this video with his mate and little sister skateboarding.  I can't wait to 'borrow' it on the next camping trip.  I might have to buy him a car mount for christmas  ;D ;D
