Symon ..... I think I need a bigger winch ;D

Chris J

I should be able to make whole trip unassisted but I have a 16,000 Lb winch that's movable either front or back.

regards, Chris.

Chris .... I was kidding mate .... if you need recovering it will more than likely involve several 4x4's or a very large tree ;D

Hi Yogi,

I understand your not having a go at me. This is all new to me with the OKA, most are frightened by the size of this thing but I only weighing at 3700 Kg though my registered GVM is 5,500 Kg. The OKA looks big because it's high, it has no bonnet and engine bay in front like conventional vehicles; you are sitting beside the motor.  Its length is no bigger than a Troop and no wider than a Patrol with big wheels and a flair kit. Anyway I'm off up that way in about three weeks time all going well.

Regards,  Chris.

Chris ..... just been looking to see if you have a camper ...... if you do then I am guess you will only be about 1T to 1.5T heavier than everyone else 8)

Have you had it off road yet ? How did it go

Chris J

Hi Yogi,

Yes I have camper fitted to back of OKA plus also towing a Cavalier off-road CT. I plan to leave the CT at Bramwell Station for run over the OTL.  I'll pick up the CT on the way back. Regards, Chris.

Hi Chris, nice truck mate, is it still white? cause I saw one the other day in kelso but it was a green one and your right it's an illusion, they look huge, but I had a good close look at this one and it wasn't much in it and my troll, just the hight, mines about 2.1 high, so how high is your OKA?

troy
you can't polish a turd, BUT you can roll it in glitter...

Chris J

Hi Troy,

Mine is white, the green one lives at Saunders Beach. Height is 2.7 M ground to boat loader.

regards, Chris.

dam, Chris, that thing really is tall, your height might be your only issue, when I did the OTL in 09 I followed a bloke in a mitsy 4wd truck, he had untold issues with the height of his truck, especially when it was on a lean in a tight spot. he was out with a musette and a saw trimming limbs of trees, was a PITA to follow he was very slow, he said the next thing he was going to mod was a big set of brush bars to protect the front of his cab & wind screen. not that an OKA it any where as big as this thing was, just thought I'd mention it. the brush bars might be a good investment though.
