Question for the tech savvy.......if stuff posted on the web is supposably there forever, how does one go about finding it?
Reason for the question is that my daughter wants to get a copy of the old trip reports I have done on various forums over the years, but atleast one of those forums (Overlander) doesn't exist anymore. My thinking is the particular trip report she wants from there is gone and can't be retrieved, but interested to hear if that's not the case.

Use archive.org

If you know roughly the date and the URL then you can find it there.

thanks mate....might have to try hard and recall what year it was now. It's an old report I did on Overlander forum when we visited Boonoo Boonoo National Park that she is seeking, will see how we go

This article seems to explain it pretty well

https://askleo.com/the-internet-is-forever-except-when-its-not/

The TLDR is that most things are probably still out there, but actually "finding it" is a different story.

Good luck... some are easy to 'wayback' - others just dont exist.

if they are attachments and sometimes on page 2 on forums, wayback doesnt store that.

Hope that helps!

(I'm a stubborn bugger, and have got used to how archive.org works, so finding things isn't too bad)
your a legend mate  very much appreciated. I had no idea what I was doing, was lucky enough to have someone start me off in the right direction to help find the first part that I did,  the wife had it noted in her Facebook that the trip was in 2009 which helped big time.
