Top of the morning all,

I'm interested in purchasing a metal detector, to have a bit of a search around a few of the creeks when I'm camping. Looking at a decent one but don't want to spend a small fortune on it. Recently stopped on the river around Sofala, would have been great to go for a wander with one around there.

Does any one have any particular models, brands I should take a look at? Any pros and cons you may have would be greatly appreciated.

there ain't nothing wrong with them city lights,
but me, I prefer them slow country nights.

That's what its all about but....depth.

Having said that, a mate with a 2300 finds far more than I do. All little sub grammers near the surface. So small in fact, I cant even get a signal off most of the pieces he finds. They are more exe than the 4500.

By the OP's description, I think the 4500 is a bit out of his league.

How do you make a small fortune out of gold prospecting? Well you first start out with a large fortune, and by the time you buy equipment and pay for fuel, you end up with a small fortune!

i recently bought a Minelab X-terra 705 twin pack. come with two different coils, 1 for gold and the other for treasure. It cost me $700 here at Coffs through our local camping-fishing store.
Its like a good camera- you can start on basic idiot mode settings then go full manual.
