We have an Evakool 82 litre fridge/freezer and currently sitting up at the Sunshine Coast.
It has one lid that opens both the fridge and freezer.

The freezer has really frosted up in a week to such an extent we are going to have to scrape it out so cold can get into the fridge.  Would I be correct in assuming the quick frosting up in the freezer would be as a result of the high humidity we've been experiencing over the last couple of weeks ? Or should I be looking for something else ?

I'd put it down to  humidity, maybe make up a coreflute sign board or broccoli box styro foam tight fitting cover for the freezer section or a towel, it might help reduce the warm moist air getting into it a bit ..

Does the freezer have a plastic lid on it at all.

Opening and closing it when the humidity is up will cause a bit of build up.

If you don't have a lid, make one up as suggested above out of corflute or foam boxes.

That way you can open the lid for the fridge and the freezer has some insulation to help.

Mark, before you go nuts with a 'Stanley knife' cutting an internal lid as such.
Tonight, after dark, put a torch in the freezer.
Close the lid of the fridge, and check to see if there are any gaps letting light out around the lid edge.
If there are gaps then that's why your freezer is icing up.
I know your fridge is not an Engel, but I took mine back because of just this problem.
It's the same as leaving the fridge door at home open a crack.
Yes the lid for the freezer is a good idea, but if the major lid doesn't seal correctly, it'll continue icing up.

Good luck with it.

Is the seal okay?

It's brand new and the seals look good. I do have a plastic cover that goes over the freezer section, that I have also put some insulation underneath just to add a bit more.

Great idea..thanks.....I just tried it and all appears good.

I think I'll just have to put it down to bloody hot and bloody humid up here at the moment.

Thanks for the inputs.

Think I've fount the solution to your problem ... Just need to fit a mini keg in the fridge and rig up an external tap ... Presto no more multiple getting up and opening the fridge for a coldie and  allowing all that hot humid air in ..  ;D ;D

Yes the humidity has a lot to do with it as well as how you treat the contents in the fridge. Drinking all day then topping up the fridge at night like I was doing at Fraser really frosted up my engel. Once I defrosted and started doing cold drink out warm drink in everything worked better.
Don't think it is an evakool problem it happens to the best of us if you are away for extended time.
