Jeepers Creepers

The ol girls Jeep developed an oil leak the other day, right up the front.

So, this afternoon, i pulled out the grille to check the clamps on the Trans Cooler it has, thinking, one had to be loose as clamps are prone to get.

4 clamps, had fallen to bits.  :o

Two were still in place, two were missing altogether with just the witness marks of where they had been. The hoses, were just sitting there.

So, a full set of new clamps and the oil leak is sorted.

BUT, I've never seen a set of clamps just fall to bits. Obviously crap quality clamps.... geez, that would never happen once.

New ones are stainless, but so were the old ones.

My old Volvo V70 decided that the bottom hose was optional once the hose clamp had rusted out... bear in mind this was in the UK, the car was 7 years old and had somewhere in the region of 190,000 MILES on it... or 304,000km...

I suspect that JC's clips also suffered from being on a coastal car, as well as being a Jeep (Just Expect Every Problem)

A good roll of trusty fence wire and make up a few QLD hitch clamps .. never fall apart again .May or may not be used to hold the rest of the Jeep together as needed  ;D
