Just interested in everyones opinions on 12v fridges..getting a 40l. Main concern is power consumption. I have owned waecos and everkool both being pretty good. But just want to know what everyone thinks on different brands. Cheers

I own a 38 Engel and a 74 National Luna. Beer is as cold in both but when the temp gets hot outside I do notice longer battery life when using the NL. The Engel is a few years older though. The Engel compressor is also noisier and can be heard on those windless quiet nights camping, but this may be due to age differences? Yes I could have purchased a bigger battery with the extra money spent on the NL.

I agree the 38L (Plastic) Engel is a little noisier, I have both the 38L and the 60L (steal) Engel and the 60L is so much quieter.  I am very happy with both fridges you can't go past the cheap cost of the 38L, I think I paid $750 with a cover.   I suppose they are all similar mate it is what suits you.
Cheers Terry.

My Engel is steel. Always thought it was 38 but might be a 40? 10-15yo and still runs great

Interesting reading the reviews that the bushman scores so well.  With an rrp of $1295 it isn't priced to badly, especially as it is so flexible.

However it isn't a brand I have ever heard of before - does anyone know about them / have one?

I have a waeco cfx50 (closer to 45 in reality) and it has been excellent with regards to power usage so far...

I used it to test a small battery box I made (24ah) and the results were really good:

Have had great service from my evakool.
I think the better insulated the fridge box, the less the fridge cycles=lower power consumption. In my mind that would make the evakool superior in that regard.

Consider which way the lid opens. Made that mistake when I bought a cfx40 a couple of years ago. Turns out the 50 is not much bigger externally and the lid orientation worked better for me. So I sold the 40 and bought a 50.    I  should have considered it first.
