Rear fold tent?

I have a "me" built trailer with a 12ft side fold second hand tent. By the end of the year it will be just me and the missus using it.
Without the messy, last year of school teenager and her crap everywhere. But we love her ;D
A mate has offered a box of beers for the 12ft,which seems a reasonably offer.
It's huge and takes too many beers to setup. But it has done the job.

I built the trailer to go wherever the 4wd can go. This bit I'm going to keep.
I know I will have to do a bit of a cut and shut to move the kitchen from the back to the side with a rear fold. This I can do.

So it comes down to..
Where the heck can I get a rear fold to fit?
The drop needs to be a minimum 1050mm. 1100mm would be perfect.
Soft floors seem to go 850 to 900.
How hard would it be to put hard floor on a 7x4 with a 1100mm drop?Hard probably.

Any ideas?
I've still got 6 months and a couple of shows to have a look.

Custom made might be your only option I'm afraid.

An Oztrail camper 8 would fit right on, if you can find one.

I thought the camper 8 drop was only 850mm? I could be wrong. Worth checking out though.

Thanks.
the Oztrail is only 850mm.

I may have to look at a 7 ft side fold and swivel the bed after setup.
Wouldn't have to move the kitchen for that.

The problem with the 12ft is there were only 2 bows hinging from the base.
Thanks to jclures photos I made up new brackets to hinge the 3rd bow and used bimini fittings to hinge the 4th bow off the 3rd.
Sets up a bit easier and folds up a lot easier but still a pita.
Way to big for just the 2 of us.

Will keep looking and thinking.

Not sure where you get the 850 from

It says down the bottom,
Designed for trailer height of approximately 850 mm on a 6'x4' trailer (not included)

Strange that they have two different sizes for the same size tent?

There seems to be two models, CCT-08-E •Designed for trailer height of approximately 850 mm on a 6'x4' trailer (1ocm matress) and CCT-08-B as mentioned above.

And neither did I.

No Probs. It'd be good if they were both available, but, probably not. It'd be good to hear how you go.

I picked mine up by chance, was brand new still in the box.
For some reason they were not popular and were discontinued.
I had the 8 twin, it had an annex of equal proportions for each side.
The walls could fit on either one.

hainess

They no longer make the 107 drop tent.

Back to the drawing board.

It would not be a huge job for a competent canvas worker to take an 850 drop [ or thereabouts] and put in a new bucket floor to your requirements.

I got mine off Thommos Campers on the Sunshine coast. It's a made in China, looks like by the same mob that do most of the others that come out of there but that was a few years ago
I'd rate the Oztrail as a better unit if you can get one.

failing that just get another sidefold that is not as big because the kitchen on the tailgate is no good inside a rear fold CT

The kitchen is a slide out. Nearly 7 ft long. Plenty of bench space. Keeps the missus happy.

Found this chinese mob on alibaba. Can't find anyone thats importing them though.
Got nowhere to store 30. ;D

If you look for King Billy's customline, I think he is using a side fold but has the bed swung around, there is an extension he puts on for the bed somehow.

With the kitchen, should you go rear fold. just make the tail gate swing around 270 degrees with the kitchen on it. Here is a pic of mine, the tent folds out to the rear and extends with the same methods you mention above.
In this pic the tail gate is open and it is what the kitchen is on, then the forward bit is the slide out pantry.
