I too have the original aldie portable bbq, it's good as just that, a bbq. The new ones look like a proper roasting style bbq. it would be good to compare.

I had the Aldi one.  used it twice and took it back for a refund - crap quality and never really got hot.  Seems to be a case of you get what you pay for.
