I think they mean you may only camp in designated camping areas, and nowhere else.......

Why don't they just say that??

Dispersed Camping on the Deschutes & Ochoco National Forests
Many people enjoy the solitude and primitive experience of camping away from developed campgrounds and other campers. Dispersed camping is the term used for camping anywhere in the National Forest OUTSIDE of a designated campground. Dispersed camping means there are no toilets, no picnic tables, no trash cans, no treated water, and no fire grates. Typically, dispersed camping is NOT allowed in the vicinity of developed recreation areas such as campgrounds, boat ramps, picnic areas or trailheads. There are extra responsibilities and skills that are necessary for dispersed camping. It's your responsibility to know these before you try this new experience.

Recreation changes
•Ensuring that access for 'dispersed camping' (camping at self-selected bush campsites) can continue as the predominant form of camping in all riverine parks and forests.

One can only assume that since "dispersed" means spread to spread out or separate, that no spread out camping allowed.

In normal person speak it would mean to camp in the vicinity that is already established. Ie don't go spreading out all over in fresh untrampled areas and destroying the vegetation.

As much as I hate the over regulated BS we have to deal with, it looks like an arid outback region which can't sustain continued abuse.
I regrettably support their request.

Why the hell don't they just say what they mean..........?

I love Rocket Lake.  Last time I was there (about a month ago) all I could hear during the night was the wind in the silky oaks and an elusive owl (yes, I went looking for it  ;D).
