I have had ENOUGH of our current provider and want to move NOW.   >:(

Tell me who you recommend.

Only a small business with simple web site (which doesn't get updated that much) and 3 email addresses.

Just want one that works....

Fabricator here, not a computer/it wizard so simple words please  :)

Thanks

Hi Ian,
Last month I developed a site for a friend using Go Daddy. Couldn't be easier. Best part is online development tools which means you can update the site from any computer. For those starting off, they have a number of templates to chose from. For 2 years with domain registration and hosting I think it was $150 mark.

Thanks for your input everyone.  I have a few to research tonight.

Our business needs email access all day everyday.  In the last 6 months we have had so much downtime it is ridiculous.  Today we were offline for the whole day.  Not the only ones unimpressed, their switchboard must have melted down!!

Hi Ian,
So if you're looking and like the speed of myswag. Then you have to go digital pacific. It's where we host MYSWAG.

Plus I also use them with a significant amount of clients I know also use them. You will find cheaper but digital pacific will have a competitive quote with fantastic servers and awesome tech support.

Hostgator,  I then use word press direct WPD which has heaps of templates and widgets and stuff. It been a while but I used to get a site up and running in 4hrs, most of that time is waiting for google to index the site. I used the one hosting account for numerous websites.

+1 for GoDaddy for cheap, good hosting with fantastic customer support. We use them for web hosting, DNS, domains, SSL certs - anything internet-infrastructure related.

If you're looking for good email hosting, then I'd actually second D4D's recommendation of Office365. I know you get a free public-facing Sharepoint site as part of the plan, which may or may not be any good for you - it would most likely mean re-engineering your current site as a Sharepoint site. TBH, I'd probably stick the website on GoDaddy, and all your email and other stuff into Office365. Office365 has really good integration with GoDaddy for automatically setting up DNS records, etc - they work really well together (which either makes your life easy, or means your IT consultant charges you less because they can set it up quickly).

The main reason I recommend Office365 for email is that it's proper Exchange on the back end, coupled with good support. So if the email goes down for whatever reason, you can log a job and someone will call you back quickly. Office365 support isn't great, but it's generally functional enough, given the few times you'll need to use it. There are other, cheaper options, but Office365 really is pretty rock solid in my experience. Plus you get access to the rest of the Office365 suite which, while you may not use now, I think you'll quickly find is indispensable.

Good luck.

Cheers,
Matto :)

If you want email reliability and a bit of redundancy you should keep the email and Web on different servers. I use Gmail to host my email by pointing the mx records of my domain to them and the Web is hosted by another server. This way you are unlikely to lose both. Gmail ' s servers are highly reliable. I've had zero downtime in almost 10 years. You can then use native ios or android apps or the Web interface to access email or any imap email client you chose. You need an account with gmail (not the free one) to do this.
