The manufacturer has cut prices for its mid-range and top spec models by $5000 and $8000 respectively, while adding extras including seven seats as a standard feature.

The car has an updated look with a new front bumper and grille, revised spare tyre cover and interior upgrades including a new centre panel design and chrome ventilation dials.

Priced from $50,990, the entry-level GLX has gained a third row of seats along with 18-inch wheels, daytime running lamps, tinted glass and chrome mirror haps.

The cost of entry-level Pajero GLX manual and automatic models has not changed, but the well-equipped VRX model made way for a mid-range GLS model that is $5000 cheaper than its predecessor, while the top-flight Exceed is now $8000 cheaper than the previous model.

The GLS is loaded with satellite navigation, heated and powered front seats, rain sensing wipers and dusk sensing headlamps.

The Exceed adds an electric sunroof, leather trim, wood veneers and a premium stereo with 12 speakers and a subwoofer.

Reversing cameras are standard across the range.

Interesting they dropped the VRX for the GLS.

I think the VRX used to be the sporty model with the ugly headlights.  However then they dropped the GLS and changed the VRX to the old GLS spec.  That's how it looked to me anyway.

On prices though the 59k for a GLS is more than anyone would have actually paid for a VRX despite what any RRP was listed as.

We have a GLX on order to replace our Prado at work so hopefully we get the new one.

Looking online it seems the VRX is now the GLS.
The GLX is now higher spec than the GLX-R was.
Makes the GLX pretty good buying. Certainly isn't what you would call a base model car any more. Auto levelling HID headlights on the entry level model :-)

I'd be concerned about the spare tyre cover though. Currently when a towbar is fitted if you want to tow an off road height trailer or be able to open the back door when you tow anything really you need to raise the spare tyre. This is done with a factory lift plate. With a fully enclosed spare tyre you probably won't be able to do that.

Plus it might be a while if ever that ARB develop a bullbar for it.  It took them long enough to sort a bullbar for the NW which is nearly identical to the NT. I think it was just a headlight washer issue. This time it looks like it would be a total redesign.

Very sharp pricing on the paj, you get lots of 4wd for your money, however they an old platform gettin long in the tooth much like the trusty y61 trol, we almost bought one but the 200 won us over with the refinement and of course THAT motor.

Mitsubishi did similar a couple of years ago with the Tritons. Selling brand new Tritons cheaper than the second hand 2012 version.  Great buy for new Triton owners but really sucked for the guys trying to sell their 2010/11/12 models second hand.
