Non-Genuine Lift Mate

Thought that I would save myself $20 and get a non-genuine lift mate for a hi lift jack. Lifted up the front of the Lux with in the garage to try it out and get a tad practice (does anyone else do that before they hit the trail?) just for kicks. Low and behold, now, one of the hooks on the thing is bent! Anyone else have purchased one of these non-genuine things and tried it? I spoke to the person that sold it to me (on-line) and he said that he's going to send some photos through of it holding up his patrol that is almost 1 "ton" (that the same as tonne?) heavier than my Lux. So far, I'm not feeling very confident about this thing at all...

I've identified your problem already.

It must only work on Nissan's.

Something that mysteriously softens the metal when it's used on Toyota's.

All you have to do now is search for an online seller who has the non-genuine ones but for a Toyota.

I bought a genuine hi lift about 10 years ago, it has seen more use in the garden removing posts than on the trail.
I honestly wouldnt bother with them, a good bottle jack and some plates will be better.

I don't have an "High/Hi Lift" jack. I have a "Kangaroo Jack" which was donated to me by a friend who found it dangerous as a jack but, as a winch if you have the time, they're quite good. There are better options then these things in my opinion!
