I noticed in the city on Friday just how many riders weave through the pedestrians on a light controlled intersection and just expect people to stop and let them through.

Yep, this happens ALL the time in Brisbane.  Cyclists who bitch about motorists should walk around the Brisbane CBD for a while and see what their buddies are doing around pedestrians.
Do not PM me for technical advice - start a thread.

Re riding 2 abreast, that is only legal on a dual lane road not single lane, and just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Re bike rego and having to wear rego numbers, great idea, means you are not anonymous and this will weed out the so called 'minority' as they are easily identifiable and reportable.

Re roundabouts, if you're in a peloton, tough crap if a car is turning right, you need to stop as that is the law, you are not considered 'one' vehicle.

If you want to 'share' a 'public' infrastructure then you need to 'share' the responsibility.

That may be, but whats legal and what should be done can be two different things.

Yep, the cemetery is full of people who had the "right of way".

This would make a great poll, so we can see just who thinks who's the biggest ar$e on the road.

Something along the lines of....
"WORLD'S BIGGEST LOSER ON BITUMEN" (In no particular order)

1. Cyclists.
2. Caravaners.
3. Pedestrians.
4. Truck drivers.
5. Bus drivers.
6. CT owners.
7. Car drivers.
8. Tradies with trailers.

You should never walk out of the public toilets sniffing your fingers.

Think I'll buy shares in a dash can company. It'll only be a matter of time before someone gets footage of a police car at less than a metre & it headlines on ACA (that doyen of journalism)

Don't even go there! As a  :police: I am sick of these bikeriders and when I get back to the Highway Patrol Monday, look out!!

I reckon there would be plenty of other work for you to do than say sitting at an intersection waiting for a cyclist to do the wrong thing.......blow an eight hour shift to nab two cyclists woohoo.....go get em

With these new laws.....which I wish they didn't bring in.....the poor motorist is going to be stung more than the cyclists.

It's only a trial rule isn't it?? Hopefully that means only warning are handed out and the rule dropped after the trial period.

so does this rule also include cyclists - they too have to be the same distance apart from each other ? ..... not going to work.

But seriously most complaints are about cyclists taking up the road these so call cyclists are riding for recreational, fitness and checking each other out in their lycra not for commuting to get from a to b, so why dont they take their bikes to dedicated cycle tracks away from traffic, or are they to arrogant that they think they are better to share the same tracks with families taking their kids for a leisurely ride. I take my kids for a ride most weekends on dedicated cycle track away from traffic and the scenery is a lot better than tail lights of cars or checking out the padded lycra 3 inches from your nose, it aint rocket science but then again some of these tutu wearing lycra sniffing cyclists are not the brightest penny in their purse

a couple of things that have been mentioned ..
make all cyclists be rego , wether they pay anything is not the point , it will give the cars a means of identifaction , just like the cars have , in case they are seen to be doing the wrong thing
make all cyclists follow the same rules as what cars do , as most are of the age to have a license , if they are found to be in the wrong , fine them
keep cyclists off the roads that are over 60klms per hour , just like backhoe's , if you cant do the speed limit you shouldn't be there

the bit that gets me is wether it is their ' right ' to ride on the road or not , when an accident occurs the car is never hurt

at what point does self-preservation overule stupidity ?

I'll give the cyclists a meter or more...heck I do now......but how about the cyclists give me "ute driver" a meter when they pass me!

ive had plenty pass me with barely enough room between me and the curb....especialy when slowing down for traffic lights, intersections and such.
