How was the day swanny??

Brilliant day mate  :cup: :cup: :cup:, hit the beach about 830, with a convoy of veh, and a howling northly blowing, but we didn't let that discourage us, drove on the soft stuff just above the high tide mark going down, a little soft but nothing to worry about if you had your tyre pressures right 18psi for us.

We stopped at mermaid lagoon, or second lagoon I think the locals call it, literally pulled up along side it set up and the kids jumped straight in the water and only stopped for lunch and then back in until we headed home about 2ish.

Trip home was no probs, stopped and lined up to get off the beach at the access track for half a dozen cars all stuck, tyre pressures I suspect, I asked a few if they needed a tug to which there replies were, how come your doing it so easy, I asked what pressures they were running and not one was under 30 pound, it just amazes me, anyway dropped the pressures on 2 cars and out they drove, gave a tug to another which had limp mode happening, other then tha an uneventful  trip back along beach ..... ;D ;D ;D

A great spot for the family to relax and enjoy summer.

The one thing I did find alarming was the amount of men who we're drinking, getting stuck in from pretty much when I arrived until I left, and then would have driven home, is it just me or does this seam the norm.

Anyway thanks again for the info mate, defo helped us out with what to expect.

 ; Swanny

Thanks for the report. The good woman & I were going to head up yesterday to check out the beach camp sites but decided to leave it until after the holidays & maybe make an o/nighter of it.
(Also, the Poms were copping another larruping so had to watch that  ;D)

It's not the nom.. When I was there a few days ago I noticed the same thing.. There was probably 4-5 family's beside us in a group and most of the adults were drinking while there kids are having a great time in the lagoon..
Don't get me wrong i love having a beer but I wouldn't consume 6+ beers and then drive home.. Like what those family's did the other day.. >:(

That's great you had a good day :cup:

that's pretty much what i've noticed at that 2nd lagoon also swanny.....quite amazing considering there's only a couple of places to get off of the beach from, and then you need to cross the bridge to get back to the mainland also, so limited escape routes. have seen plenty of RBT's there over the years, but obviously they need to have plenty more there when it keeps happening there.

Are these the two lagoons you are talking about on Bribie

Clouty

That's correct Kieran..
Mermaid lagoon is the most popular one..
On any sunny weekend mermaid lagoon is always packed with 4wds and family's having a great time..
If you can get there mid week you'll be pretty much be the only one there..

Great Thanks,
We live up in NQ but are making the move down to the Sunny Coast later this year, My wife's grandparents have lived on Bribie for 15 years so we are pretty frequent visitors down there but have never been over to the other side of the Island, next time im down ill be sure to go have a looksee and a swim.

Last time we were there at the smaller lagoon, next to us pulled up a few blokes, chicks and 2 kids. Great we thought, people who have kids like us, and would be out for a quiet day.

Not so.

After a few beers (in the morning), bloke decides to show off how awesome his 4wd was by driving across and back through the lagoon, up the sand bank on the other side, music up loud. Pity all the kids were swimming in the water at the time!!

Had to corrale the kids close to us and watch them carefully while dhead showed off his prowess. As soon as we had lunch, we left. Not a terrible day, but disappointing...
