Hail -is there anything you can do to protect your car?

Few year back when melbourne was hit by hail the guy up the road has a classic old merc that he covered in the padding  from his outdoor funiture seats , both mine and my parents cars were fatally hit while his merc came through  without without any damage but I believe spray and cook will also work

I got rushed to hospital earlier! 
Had a read of a few of the posts... and split my sides open from roaring with laughter
