hey all

been driving on the beach for years but never with a trailer.

what are the pressures to put the trailer tyres at?

It depends on the sand you are driving in IMHO.

Some places you may need to go with GeeTee's recommendation other places where the sand is firmer you may be good with slightly higher pressures.

I always start at 15psi and tweak from there if necessary which is very rare. Sure I could get through with more but I don't see the need when I can take things slower with less wheel spin and less right foot.

I am usually not in a hurry when sand driving so not an issue anyway but I have never had a problem running along the beach in the hard around 80km/h. I just know that I can't swerve for anything and expect a positive outcome!

Yep that works for me

Although not sure how much advantage there is on a trailer lowering the pressures on sand/beach driving.
Didnt lower trailer pressures on Fraser from memory.

I used to be 'yeah whateva' with trailer pressures but towing a bit on the beach across from my workshop, go deep with the pressures, especially with the soft fluffy sunny Sunday stuff. It kind-of lets the trailer tyre 'get on the plane'.

With no drive and negligible braking or steering input you are safer at lower pressures under the trailer than the tow vehicle - ...but that is not an issue unless you are doing turn-and-burns for the camera ;)

Different beaches....different sand.............different pressures..............I reckon if you go in at 15 to 16 psi straight from the get go you are going in a little bit too much too early. Give yourself some where to drop to if you start to bog down.

This relates to the beach, not a desert situation, but most will run along the beach with ct on lower tides for obvious reason, so the only soft sand you are doing is either cuttings or getting to a site. In these situations you can prepare to have some speed to get where you are going so 15psi isn't really going to help to much.

Cheers NOmad.
