My 4WD - Yokohama Geolanders

Been researching new tyres for the last 6 months and while I know everyone will have their favorite, have settled on Yokohama Geolander AT's for my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I'm in the process of setting the Jeep up for long distance touring and will be towing a 900kg+ Camper trailer through central Oz, as well as some light offroad work in the Vic High Country (not extreme rockhopping). My Son and another friend are running Coopers so I know how good they are, just prefer the Geo's.  Local Bob Jane quoted me $365 x 4 fitted and balanced.  Not sure if this is a good price, but also looking for any feedback from swaggers that run Geo's.

I would get a 2nd quote. Recently priced D697's at a Bob Jane at $440 ea, then went to nearby Bridgestone outlet who quoted $379 ea.

I think the yokohama's in 265/60 R18 aren't LT construction and that was the reason i bought the bridgestone 697's in 265/60 R18 LT.
I did get good deal from a bridgestone dealer that stuffed up the price on them, but i have heard that they sell them for around $350 per corner.

I ran a set of Geolanders on my Subaru and got terrible mileage out of them.  Have read similar reports on a couple of Subaru forums, so not sure if isolated to useage on Subaru's or across other manufacturers.

If you are going off the tar, I'd be most definitely going with LT tyres..

I had the same tyres on my Prado. Changed them out the other day at 57k - probably had anpother 5k or so in them.
We did heaps of off road in them - nothing extreme but around 5k 'outback; and another 3k or so off-road/sand.

I ended up putting MT STZ's on this time - but would have happily put the Yokos on again pending price.

I got less than 30,000 out of my Geos.
I personally know 2 other people that got about the same mileage.

I've got the Goelanders on mummy's Pajero & I thought to myself that they must be getting close to thier first free rotation. So I grabbed the paper work & looked at the mileage & we'd already clocked up 20,000k on them & they look brand new. So far, so good. Better than the stupid BFG Allterrains that were on there.

Funny that, my BFG A/T's have 50,000 on them and only look approx. 1/2 worn  !!

I had Geo's on my Cruiser. A nice tyre but only passenger construction and only good for about 40K. I've gone Cooper A/T3 because I wanted LT and the bloody Cruiser has 18" rims.

My Geo's are 265/75/16's and have done 30,000 and looks like I will get about 50k out of them. For me they are great value for money (they were only 270 ea) are a comfortable ride, are superb on sand. The bulk of my driving is at 30psi on shocking dirt roads and they haven't been damaged. If you want an 80k tyre, don't get them but for the most part I think they aren't a bad tyre.

Had 5 Geolandar 245/70/R16 AT tyres fitted to the Monterey by Bob Janes in Geelong today.
$1250 balanced,fitted and aligned.  I was happy.
Difficult to shop' for a better deal on the Yokos,, as Bobs are about the only outlet that carries them.
One reason I wanted to  give them a go was because of their warranty.
Will have to wait and see how they wear...

I've have the Geo ATR's on the Prado for just over 2 years now. They are 265/65 17. Put them on just before doing the Cape trip in 2011 with the myswag crew, and then through to Central Oz, and quiet a number of trips up to the Vic high country, always towing a big cub camper and they have preformed flawlessly. Have traveled about 60,000k and i reckon they are down to about 30%. Although they are not of the LT construction in this size, I did ruin one on the development road in Cape York with 5000k on it, but that was due to me driving on a flat tyre and shredding it, an a shocking road, and that was after doing the OTL, I haven't had any problems since then, quiet, excellent in the wet and good wearing.

More than happy with mine. Highly recommend.

I run 31" Geo's and absolutely love them. Good grip, quiet and long lasting. 30000km barely any wear inducing corner country a couple of times.

I switch from geo's to hankook rf10's and haven't looked back, especially at under 200 a corner.

Mine have done 35,000 (at least 3,000km of tough dirt) and look like they'll easily do another 30.

Only issue I have with them is the sidewall is soft and prone to damage, but if you buy from the right place they come with a tyre guarantee.

I've got them on my pathy love em will go for another set  they have been on for over 50000 still got another 5to 8 still in them and the price sounds pretty good

On our recent run out to Birdsville a mate blew a trailer tyre near Quilpie so we pulled into the hardware/tyre shop. Old mate there got to chatting about tyres and he highly recommended the Geos out in his country.

I will look at the Geos and probably the bridge stones in the next six months.
