Going back to basics - sort of ...

Eeeeeewwwwww!!!  What were they thinking??

Not a lot obviously!

Is that an artists impression or pressed metal? It is certainly not a good look.

From the linked article.
"Phil Hickman, corporate affairs spokesman for Fiat Chrysler Group Australia, confirmed the new look Cherokee is coming soon.

"At this stage, we are expecting to launch the Cherokee sometime during the fourth quarter of 2013," "We expect a rush from hair dressers and latte drinking tools with pre-orders any day now," he says."

Not my style of vehicle, and obviously most seem to agree.

I am sure they will have a market.

I guess it's a 'Jeep thing!'.

You don't use magic to disappear, all you need is a 4wd & a Swag ;)

Pipeliner

No, it certainly isn't a 'Jeep' thing!!

In 2003 I was seriously considering buying a secondhand diesel XJ which I took for a test drive, but was warned off that particular 2.5 diesel motor. I was then introduced to the KJ 2.5CRD and realised that I had found the vehicle that ticked all the boxes. I swapped it for the 2.8CRD in 2007.

The KJ has always struck me as being a well done blend of good looks and ability. When the KK came out I thought it probably had the ability but had sacrificed the good looks. This new one doesn't seem to have either - you can't build a capable 4wd on an Alfa Romeo Guilietta platform and it looks horrible as well!

Every so often a vehicle comes along that is a classic in that it will look good in any era, not just the one it was designed in. The E-type Jag is probably the best example - who wouldn't want to drive one of those even if they are 50 years old? I think the KJ fits into a similar mould - not that mine will ever be worth what an E-type is!! It's just that it looks right regardless of its age.

No-one will ever say that about the new one!
Camping is great as long as the mattress is inner spring!

I personally think it looks OK.......redo the grille and it'll sell OK....

I agree, even better with a nice ARB bar wrapped around the front.

Redcherokee

It's the headlights that put it beyond redemption.

They just aren't Jeep headlights.   :'(

I usually sit on the fence on new vehicle as often they grow on you, but this is fugly. This is like a Chinese version of the Tribeca (the front that is).

Its like Fiat are using the Jeep for a test of things like this:

There's a Ferrari version that's similar.

But I have looked at the jeep photo a few times now and it sort of looks like fiat have asked renault to design the front end.

The shape does grow on you (like a fungus) but............

Mace

^^^^^^  At least that Maserati SUV version remains true to its front end design  heritage and manages to  look half decent.

Yeah I agree, but its probably similar to BMW changing their front end from the grey nurse shark type of shape to the more bull nose shape like on the 6 series.

Really who knows...........it's a jeep thing.
