Reason being..???

The brother in law has one of the 12v Kogans - plays movies straight from the HDD + a load of other functions for $200, why not get one...

Hi,
I have seen smaller than 12" TV, must ask the chap where he got it. Haven't seen that small on Kogan though.
cheers

I got the Kogan 24" LED, fits perfectly on the top of the robe cupboard.  Very happy with it, although I don't like to watch telly when camping but keeps the kids (and me) entertained if it's wet etc.  It's very light and thin, so when travelling just slide it into the folded up doona that goes on our beds, that way don't have to worry about storing the box.  Picture is very good, sound is a bit tinny, but for the price I wouldn't expect any better.

Hi

I have the Kogan 19"  also just fits  into the box area when the wardrobe is down and fits along 1 side exactly with the foam blocks that it came packed with on the edge for a nice snug fit. I then just put some pillows or the kids quilts in the box area to secure it.

Hi

Picture is good and the ability to play avi files from a dvd or from a hdd make it very versatile to play things that "fall" of the Internet. Have to say though the speakers are a bit crappy even with bass at full they are very tinny.

Had the footy on during Easter and I had to attached  some battery operated ipod speakers to hear the commentary over the kids.

Kogan are great. We have a 19" inch DVD combo in the Coromal and can not fault it. I have since purchased the 21" LCD DVD combo's for my kids room.
They are great value for the money you pay.

Just refreshing this thread, how many people have purchased the Logan led tvs for their swans and does the 24 inch one fit in behind the wardrobe when folded down? They are all on sale at the moment so thinking if we are gonna get one now would be the time :)

Hi, from memory the 24 inch won't fit in that section

Yep bough the 24 inch and when unpacked looked too big, so kept it as a spare for the kids(they break them regularly) just got delivered a 22 inch, looks a better size for a the swan in general not sure if it will fit in that area either but worst case I'll wrap it in a blanket and stick it just on the table area when

Okay cool, thanks Swannie :) we haven't missed having a tv but we are planning a two week trip and I'm thinking if it's raining a few movies for the kids wouldn't hurt. Might as well buy one now on sale :)

I have had the 24in DVD combo model for 18mths, like others it doubles as the kids tv when at home. Great value for money. Some said the sound is tinny, yes true but that is because it is designed to run off 12v and sound (ie large magnets to generate the bass) is the power sucker, more so than the screen size and image. And they are very budget, when you switch from tv/av to DVD & back the DVD player does not remember where it was and starts from the beginning again. Otherwise a good unit, way cheaper than any 12v tv's I have seen elsewhere. I bought one of the Kogan wall mount brackets, stays attached to the tv, and added 4 screws to the outside of the van + 2 extra 12v power points and that's where it is set up. Reason being the tv only goes away for longer trips when we set up the annexe. No annexe, no TV.

Same as nbd73 and the uni daughter has snookered it for her room and the sound is quite OK there but what you have to remember is that won't be so in a noisy environment. Basically you can't pack decent home theatre speakers into very small thin TV packages, whatever brand you're buying. Also with small screens the manufacturers don't have to worry about fancy screen resolution issues like they do with big stuff and hence they're dirt cheap.
There's no Great Evil conspiracy against consumers within engineering, manufacturing and supply. Just the many tradeoffs incurred to satisfy diverse tastes, priorities and wallets. But first comes all the insatiable Gummint eggsperts, nanny-staters and usual suspects.

I have a Kogan TV in the Starcraft ... works well although the hard drive for the PVR is having issues (not that I use it) and had trouble watching movies from a USB but I now watch movies from an android tablet via hdmi cable.
For the price can't complain and would buy it again

Oh really? That was the main reason I was thinking of getting it to play movies from USB.

I have the 19" and 24" Kogan TVs. To watch movies on USB you need to convert them to .TS format beforehand. The PVR function on these TVs record in this format.

I've had no problems playing back or recording on a 500gb external hard drive or USB.

With regard cancan reporting a problem recording to their hard drive, the problem could be the hard drive, not the TV. He hasn't clarified what the problem is.

People forget that this was one of the advantages of the good old CRT TV: ability to cram in decent quality speakers. Bring them back eh?
The Kogans claim 1080p full HD, but the refresh rate on the screens as well as the contrast and brightness do not match that offered by high end product by Panasonic or Sony for example. Get what you pay for, who is arguing for camping or Kids?

Sorry I think it is the hard drive but I have the foxtel app on my phone so if there is something I want to record I use the app and record at home so have not looked at what the issue is.
Same with watching movies off the usb, have not checked if the format is compatible as I am happy to use the tablet and hdmi cable
