Got a big flash of lightning overhead on Sunday morning (Alderley) while watching a movie
Despite a flash and spark in the lounge from the TV antenna cable, all our stuff survived it
But we lost Telstra Bigpond cable and 4G mobile broadband, the mobile broadband came back Monday morning
But now 48 hrs plus later still no cable internet service.
Telstra call centre says that  a cable that services a large part of Brisbane area caught fire and eta of fix is not till later tonight :-[
Anyone else?

After having 3 modems fried in storms and having to get 70m of land line replaced [only took 4 months to have it buried!!!] we now only run wireless & mobile phones. Survived a couple of cracker lightning hits with no problems..next door neighbour had his modem cooked.

learnt my lesson, went out and bought the super Heavy duty surge boards off Dick Smith, the ones that you plug your aerial and broadband cable into as well.
also learned that we didn't get off scott free
burned the ethernet port on the T-Box and the port on the modem it plugs into
the wireless on the T-box still works so we are still running!
