As i am on the road quite a bit, i have noticed there is becoming a major problem when towing. The major problem is..........

HEAD LIGHT AIM.

if you have auto adjust lights please be sure you check they are working, those with out an adjustment switch, please take the time to adjust your lights DOWN.

I understand there will be times where adjusting them for a 1hr drive is simply not practical, but please spare a thought for those coming toward you...Rant Over!!

 Yep, right with you on that one cwk. I used to be a truck driver and that was a major problem. Also people whom run with maladjusted fog lights (it just so happens to by illegal to operate unless in fog).

I notice the 1st time I towed the dove that my spot lights were spotting possums in the tree so I adjust them but didn't think how the headlights would effect other Good point. I have been checking out airbags for the rear of my prado as the back drops around 35mm when the camper is hooked up so that will solve the headlight/spotlight problems.

My headlights are problematic with weight on the hitch now that the suspension is tired. I try to avoid towing after dark because of this.

I am actually finding the HID lights are really bright - worse when I am driving the wifes corolla and 4x4 have them.

Yeah, I constantly get flashed at night when towing & it seems to be getting worse. I to try too avoid towing after dark because of this. I hope to have airbags & maybe new coil springs by the end of the week so hopefully this will solve the problem.

I remember a time when headlight alignment was part of a rego check.
They'd put your car on a hoist, check every thing there, drop it down and check that all lights were working then swing the stand around to the front of the headlight and check the alignment. Had a XW ute fail this one year, cause I had smashed a head light and put another one from the wreckers. I hadn't adjusted it properly, so it was pointing sky ward.
I also believe it is a knoob thing to drive around with your fog lights.

IN darwin they still check headlight aim.

This is further complicated by fog lights on most cars are now not foglights at all but extra driving lights - Fog lights are supposed to be yellow/amber coloured not white or dazzling blue/white..

In my Jeep, I can adjust the headlight to 3 height settings with the flick of a switch, won't use much as I tend to tow through the day and the Eagle does not affect the Jeep too much.

X2 in my nissan. i have however adjusted my lights up slightly and have the settings in the car down 1. that way if i have been towing and im driving around with my airbags up i can then move the lights back up a bit.

Yes i agree with the headlight aim problem but find clowns with fog lights a big problem getting worse, not only in the bush but in the middle of canberra, clowns are using them, you flash your lights at them ( at risk of yourself getting booked) and they just flash their hi beams back at you. wtf

Got to agree with most of the posters here about headlight aiming...and it makes it worse when I  drive our town car (pulsar!) its low and we cop a big eye ful of bright headlights both coming towards us and in the rear vision mirrors....!   I just wish the non retired coppers  (where are you donuts?) would start doing a bit about the alternative lights on many vehicles!
