opinions on Left or right folding tents

hey guys i was thinking today as i walked through the caravan park weather there is an advantage in either left or right folding tents and id be interested in what u all think mine folds to the drivers side which im not sure if u would call that left or right lol but anyway thats the way it folds personally without much experience i think that id prefer one that folds to the passanger side is there a conseniuos on this by chance i look forward to seeing what everyone thinks.

Most fold as you have identified although other configuration can be ordered from some manafacturers.

With this configuration, kitchens usually open from a passenger side hinge (opposite the fold out side).  If you close in your annex, the kitchen is then against the wall instead of being out in the middle of the room.

Guaranteed that whatever fold out you have, you will find a camp area that suits the opposite!

Our tent is on the drivers side and kitchen hinged on the passenger side. Scott at Southern Cross Trailers who built ours said he never builds them the other way as it`s safer to have access to the trailer on the passenger side if it needs to be opened at the side of the road.

When I first posted a pic. someone asked me why the kitchen was on the wrong side!
Guess both ways are correct.

Ours folds out to the drivers side. Only because that configuration lets us tilt the bed base and open the kitchen to pack & unpack when our camper is reversed in the garage!

By having the tailgate hinged to the drivers side means that accessing the kitchen is done from the side of the road and no-one can accidently step into the path of traffic.

Ours folds to the passenger side like Cracka's. It seems to make sense to me if you're pulled up roadside for safety reasons, but when you're trying to upgrade kitchens and the like, it annoys the crap out of me as they all seem to open the other way. Oh well, just need to fabricate some more!

So if you need to access inside the trailer by lifting the tent, you step out into the path of traffic! Unless when set up, they mean for all (tailgate) kitchens to be in the middle of the room.

And the top does not lift so no problem there.

There is no one valid argument that I can make for left or right fold. If you need to access something on the RHS of the trailer get further off the bloody road.

Caravan parks are laid out for an annex on the left, which means if there is a concrete pad it will be under a left fold tent. I always tried to  spin my CT so that the pad was across the rear of the camper, room permitting.

I like the idea of front fold.... but then, you dont see many of them round so can't be that great
