Porta Potti water question

Hoping to spend quite a bit of time camped on or near beaches.
Occurs to me that using seawater in the potti wouldn't hurt it, and would save on the need for fresh water.
Any obvious problems that I've overlooked here?

Good question, I don't see why not.
Maybe the salt water will deteriorate the seal quicker?
Do you use chemicals...if so are they ok in salt water?

Never owned a PP but what happens to the remains after a few nights camping, do you pour it down a hole somewhere?

Yes but where possible a dump point or the dunny at home.

It digs a deep secure hole - no one would know we had been there.

i think there should be no problems with the pp running the salt water. i will just smell a bit more. salt water is bacterial active. that is why boat toilets smell so much even with rinse additives and air fresheners. just rinse it thoroughly including the pump when you return.

I also have a PP but was always worried about the cassette separating in the tray (Dual Cab) with ARB canopy and stuff flying everywhere so ive never used it.....

Ive got a Jimmys Thunderbox,I take a fence post hole digger and use Biodegradable plastic bags on the inside of the four corners, When finished,lift the lid and twist the plastic and tie off, then put down in the hole...Usually put a big stone over it or log...
