Hi,
I have been given a $300+ BCF gift voucher and thought I would invest in some 12 volt power for my Cub Supamatic. Went to BCF and found I could get the following with my gift voucher:

1. A Waeco 36 Amp hour battery pack - RAPS36
2. Engel Battpak - 56 Amp hour - discontinued stock at BCF and on special.
3. 100 amp hour 12 volt AGM battery - can't remember brand - I think it started with "R" -

I am pretty ignorant when it comes to electrical things, but I thought one of these would be good to run things like lighting, power my laptop and maybe a small TV when we cannot connect to 240 volts.

Any ideas, comments or suggestions?

I'd go the 100 amp hour myself and then a cheapo battery box. You can then add 12 volt / merrit or andersens as you wish where you want them.

Thanks for the responses. I think I will go for the 100 amp hour battery deep cycle battery.

Another question. Where would be a good place to locate the battery in my Cub Supamatic, and is it possible to connect it so that I can use the existing internal and external 12 volt sockets? Currently, these sockets only work when the trailer's 7 pin plug is plugged into my Ute.

G'day not real sure on the lay out of the cub but an easy way i connected power on early campers and vans i had was to attach a cable to battery and on the other end i had a trailer plug,same as car so when i unplugged from the car i would plug this cable straight into camper plug and instant power to all outlets.

We have the Raps36 as well as a couple of 100amp deep cycles.

To me they really are for two different uses. If you want portability then the Raps is fantastic. Portable power anywhere you like plus it has its own smart charger built in. In summer we take the waeco fridge and the raps on bbq's and day trips. The 100amps are in the camper and we dont have a second battery in the tug, just use the raps. It is plugged into the power outlet in the rear of the prado which then goes to the fridge. The battery is charged as you drive and runs the fridge when your stopped.

So if you need portability go raps. If not, go the 100 amper.

check the brand of battery first.. you end up being better off with 2x AAA's...

I agree with that for sure, maybe even 3 x AA's would be better for you?
I would not even consider a $300 AGM Deep Cycle battery, quality would be total crap that is guaranteed

mate, you are a grade A tosspot. even when someone give real evidence that you've been inaccurate you just twist things around in a child-like way. you'd think that someone in their sixties would have grown up by now. or maybe you're back on the downward spiral?

I helped a mate of mine install a 100 aH AGM in his Cub and it went under the bed close to his fridge - from memory his had cables and connectors already there to hook up to his 3 way fridge .. Was a while ago and I haven't seen his Cub since then ..
